Are we allowed to create our own avatars, as long as they arent copyrighted from MGM, or is it the same old rules? because it seems like we can.

Hi, and WOW, where is this place?. Have tried to get online for hours, but now I know why CBn has been offline for so long.

Well done Guy's, you've done a fantastic job.

Happy New Year Everyone,

All the best,

Cheers,

Ian

You couldn't have editted it at a worst time. Evan was just updating some files and used and old one which messed it up :)

Fixing it now for you.

The forum change is also the reason behind last months forum downtime as we were having to test numerous items.

Worth the wait though, eh?

I must say, this new forum is awesome. Excellent job, guys. Kudos. :) Love the new "Veteran" tag and Lt. Commander rank that I have. Also glad to see some of my proposed avatars in there. :) :)

Just two questions, however: what's the difference between "New Reply" and "Fast Reply," if any? Also, what's this gizmo that says "Warn: 0%"?

New Reply takes you to the Reply to topic page.

Fast Reply is like the Quick Reply on the old forums. It let's you skip having to go to another page before being able to reply. You can set it so that it is opened automatically for you all the time by setting the preference in "My Controls".

Glad you like the new forums :)

Members with 1000+ posts get promoted from Crew to Veterans.

Hi Dave,

Well Matey, it's like having to go back wearing a condom, but I'm sure we'll get the hang of it!. :)

Have a great New Year, :)

All the best,

Cheers,

Ian

The "new" CBn looks great. I love it! It will take some time getting used to it but I don't mind. Also, I like the new "Member No." feature.

Just wondering, what are the different ranks and groups? And do we need to get the same number of posts to change?

Why don't the forums work with AOL anymore? It is really inconvenient that I have to use Internet Explorer now. :)

Just wondering, what are the different ranks and groups? And do we need to get the same number of posts to change?

The ranks break down as follows:

Recruit = 0 posts
Midshipmen = 10 posts
Lieutenant JG = 100 posts
Lieutenant = 500 posts
Lt. Commander = 1000 posts
Commander = 3000 posts

Commander RNVR = Staff
Commander RNVR - CMG = Editor
Admiral = Dave & Daniel

The groups break down like this:

Enlisting = Not yet validated
Crew = Forum Member
Veterans = Forum Member with 1000 or more posts
Commanding Officers = Staff
Naval Intelligence = Editors
The Admiralty = Dave & Daniel

Veterans have the added ability to upload their personal photos to their profiles.

We will be making a few additions to this system but these numbers will not be changing.

Woww! I thought maybe the wine I'd been drinking was playing games on me, but this is quite a lovely way to start out 2004 (though, seeing as I'm in the Central zone, not quite 2K4 yet).

Quick show of hands: how long until the New CBn Girl has her first "meeting" with Xen and Company? :)

All kidding aside, I do have one question, and that's of the "warn" thing. I take it that's when if you do a Double O No No, you get a friendly little message warning you to watch it or they'll feed you to the CBn shark. But if you're logged in, you only see yours, right?

Did we loose some posts off of our post count because of the new forum? I thought I used to have over 2600 posts.

It's pretty cool, nice set up. I was curious if we have lost our buddy list feature. I don't see it in my controls.

I too am very impressed by the new setup. It's going to take a little getting used to, but all in all I think it is a change for the better. I love the new banners, and the ranking system is very cool.
