Oh I love the Fleming Bond novels and I appreciate him for those....However I do believe that McClory created SPECTRE and Blofeld.

The mere fact that McClory said he did back in the early 1960s and Fleming didn't deny it is enough to convince me that Blofeld is McClorys brainchild.

NSNA- 3/10-(three points for Connery)
OP- 9/10
TB- 9/10
Claudine Auger, Adolfo Celi, Lucianna Paluzzi, and perhaps Sean's best performance as Bond, not to mention a great Barry score, put TB as one of my favorites. My ears are still bleeding form the NSNA soundtrack.

I really don't understand how blind people are to how good NSNA is. How can people not love the dialogue, Barbara Carrera as Fatima Blush, Klaus Maria Brandeur as Largo, Kim Basinger as Domino, Edward Fox as M and Bernie Casey as Felix.

Also Max Von Sydow as Blofeld!! Really, who else could play that part?

I love the dialogue too, but that's the only reason I watch it anymore. I'll go even as far as saying the lines in NSNA may be some of the best and funniest in all of the Bond films. But apart from that, NSNA seems to make a mockery of the Bond franchise as portraying Bond as an inept has-been, which is what I think turns me off from the film, apart from other reasons.

We will just have to disagree Sir Miles I LOVE the movie. In fact the only thing I don't like is the soundtrack!

The soundtrack for that film is just terrible. If perhaps it was better, I think it would greatly raise my praise of the film, because I strongly value the quality of Bond music. Legrand just didn't have it for this film, the action music is just boring, with nothing really shooting out at you. I do like the camp, yet funky track played during the horse sequence though.

A rather poor choice of Connery's as Legrand for the music.

How about that god-awful music thats playing in Domino's dance studio on board the Flying Saucer, Qwerty? :) I actually cheered when Largo smashes the stereo system with the ax! Also that title song is really, really cheesy. I definitely prefer Die Another Day (but not by much) to Never Say Never Again.

NSNA 1/10 This thing is worse than even AVTAK for me. :)

It's like watching a bad TV movie. For one, the direction is appauling. This guy did THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK!!!??? :) Ray Charles could have delivered a better looking movie.

And, all 20 Bond films have atleast decent cinematography. With NSNA, you could watch it in fullscreen and not know the difference.

The music. Dear Lord.

The only good thing in the film IHMO is Max Von Sydow.

The film is a disgrace to James Bond IMHO. Everything is subpar. The direction, the casting, the action. I don't like Largo at all.

If you guys dig it, that's fine by me. I'm not into converting to anything. But I think this film is attrocious.

Well, I wouldn't go that far, I thought the villains were delicious in this one. All of them. Blofeld, Lippe, Largo and miss Fatima Blush....excellent!

I'm actually not that fond of him either Dove, he has the right ideas, but I do not like his performance of it at all. Just wasn't my type, but I know a lot of people like him. He's okay, there just have been much better.

Edward Fox makes for a nice change from the good old M we were so used to. Having an older Bond up against a younger, by-the-book, tight-a** boss is a nice touch. Strangely, he seems very similar to Bond's boss in FYEO (was he supposed to be Tanner?).

However, I'm not as enthusiastic as most people are of Von Sydow's Blofeld. Although the guy has one of the all-time classic voices, the bow-tie and physical manner just don't seem to reflect somebody running the world's top criminal organization. Maybe the rumoured deleted scenes with him in it would change my mind.

I feel the exact same way Turn. Tanner in For Your Eyes Only and Edward Fox as 'M' in Never Say Never Again, I find to be rather irritating soemtimes.

Tanner in For Your Eyes Only, I thought was just too harsh on Bond, his voive would crak through like a whip and although, Bernard Lee had the same effect, it seemed that Bernard Lee, you just always accepted it, because he had been around so long and it was odd to see this new fellow giving Bond all these orders, at least that's the way I felt. Perhaps, if would have been in more Bond films, I would have learned to accept him better, because I would have gotten used to him, but right now, because he never did, he just isn't one of my favorites.

Judi Dench, Robert Brown and Bernard Lee, I thought, were all spectacular in the role of 'M', I find all of them to be good in certain ways.

Blofeld in Never Say Never Again, has never allowed to me to give him an absolute rating of him because I just cannot tell if I like him or not, because of the limited scenes he is in. It's a definite departure though from the others before him.

I liked the character Tanner in FYEO. I thought he did a much better job than Kitchen does in the PB movies.

Finally got around to purchasing the dvd recently and while I still am sticking with my rating, it's quite good. The only demerits I give it are for the music, some story problems (Bond seems to simply have the solution fall iknto his lap rather than any hardcore spying) and Fox's shrill M. Granted the story problems I sopke of can be found in other Bond films, but they just seem more pronounced in NSNA.

I can't say i like much about this movie. It would have been better if they had done it about 20 years earlier with a younger Connery.

You never saw Never Say Never Again?!? :) :)

It's a good Bond film, and there are many members on CBn that will tell you the same as well. It's always been pretty average to me. i like Thunderball better, yet, this one has some very good points too, such as the Fatima Blush and Max Largo.

Then, it has some low points too, like that musical score. *shudder*

Still, a great Bond film, and I love it like all others.

I find this movie bothersome. This comes mainly from my deep rooted hatred of Kevin McClory. I would love to plaster him, but I have done it enough times on CBn. The movie has some witty dialog, but i find some of the action scences to be slightly cheap looking. The videogame battle between Largo and Bond is just goofy. At that, Adolfo Celi is a superior Largo, Klaus Marie Brandeur just doesn't look menacing. The climax could have been truly spectacular, it had a good setting, but just doesn't click.

I do like this movie for one reason: James Bond's best sexual encounter occured in the fine city of Philadelphia.

:)
