Yes Barbara Carrera played probably one of the best femme fatale's.

So, I do not have this on DVD, but have thought about it. How can I tell it is the version which has missing scenes restored? I read that on the initial DVD release there were certain scenes left out from the original edit.

Yes...the first pressing of the DVD was missing scenes.

The corrected DVD has two or three asterix's after the title on the top security seal.

The thing that was missing was Barry score for obvious reasons of course. NSNA could have benefitied from it. But James Bond theme, and Connery doing his thing around the same time as Roger , it's like saying "You said nobody does it better, I did it best, This is just a reminder." Now of course this would be great if it was box office hit but it wasn't .

Sorry, Darren - I just think that it REALLY compares in comparison Thunderball, which is one of my favorite films in the series. Also the special effects are quite cheesy, and the end battle scenes (if you can really call them that) are pretty basic and run-of-the mill. Not to mention those silly Navy Jetpack replacements!

Hell yeah Finesse! :)

Although I do enjoy NSNA very much, it is a great film, I love Octopussy, it's one of my favs of his along with TSWLM and MR of course. Roger is Bond. Nobody does it better. :)

NSNA is leagues better than the weak THUNDERBALL.

lol - sorry, but I guess that's where we disagree. I think the cast in Thunderball was much better (Adolpho Celi as Largo? PERFECT!), the music was great, Connery was great, etc.

But hey - more power to you for standing for what you believe in!

You cannnot be serious Brian!!!! The dialogue of NSNA was crackling compared to the lackluster TB and the cast of NSNA was far better than the nobodys who appeared in TB. Barbara Carrera is the best femme fatale of any Bond movie!

Also the climax to TB is the most confusing and embarrassing of the franchise!

I think it's a good climax. I'm just curious to find out what you don't like about it, NSNA's was good, but I thought they could have crafted it together better, however, it isn't that bad.

Ah, well I didn't think it was too hard to distinguishe between the teams, but I think it's just supposed to act as chaos and it does do that very good.

I think it does it too good....On the other hand the climax to NSNA is far better and more interesting.

It is good in NSNA, but I think therfe is far too much and doesn't come together well, the Tears Of Allah, I think did not have the excitement as other scenes did.

Although the climax of NSNA is far from perfect I do prefer it to the climax to TB.

Really? I didn't find it confusing, really. I mean, sure, that scene does have it's share of errors and such, but that aside, I just really see Thunderball as the superior film.

The opening action scene of Never Say Never Again is fun, I have no shame in admitting, but it's almost ruined by a horrible theme song, as well as a cheesy opening credits (the wallpaper of "007s").

I think my immense hatred of Kevin McClory also helps...:)

I don't like the final confonrtation between Largo and Bond, there's not enough menace to it, and it seems rather tame, perhaps if it was a bit longer and not solely underwater...

Your aware of the fact that Kevin McClory was the producer of THUNDERBALL aren't you.

I don't dislike McClory, It was that crook Felming who stole McClorys ideas when coming up with the TB book

Yes the underwater stuff on THUNDERBALL was incredibly boring.

I think the fight between Bond and Largo on the boat is one of the worst edited fight scenes in the franchise.

Yes, I'm well aware that McClory was involved with Thunderball, but to a very minimal extent, from my understanding. Broccoli and Saltzman also had a hand, with the fantastic Terence Young helming the film.

And as for Fleming being a "crook", I'm not so sure about that - I've read previously that there has been evidence - notes found of Fleming's - that show that he indeed created Ernst Stavro Blofeld and SPECTRE before he and McClory worked together on the script that would eventually become Thunderball. It's hard to really say who really contributed what to the script.

I believe that Fleming stole the ideas that McClory brought to the table in the late 1950s including Blofeld and SPECTRE.

I'll give you it here. It is one example of a fight scene where I do not like the editting, just too much going on, too fast. It is good when it finally comes to a complete stop with Largo holding the gun. It's a good, but not great effect.

However, I just find the way Largo in NSNA slowly turning the spear towards Bond just isn't very exciting. Ah well, it is an okay finale.

Well, what can I say? I'm just a huge fan of Fleming, and like to give him the benefit of the doubt.
