I would love to, but I am currently in rehearsal for Arsenic & Old Lace at the Curtis Threatre in Brea.

Which character are you playing, Matt? :)

Way back in high school (year 10), I played Jonathan Brewster, the Raymond Massey character from the movie. The best fun I've ever had on stage.

I even received a commendation certificate at the end of the year for it too.

This is kind of a semi-pro production. Wow, you played Johnathan!

One of my best friends in the theatre has that role. It IS a good one.

And it is a great play!

I got my foot in the door with Lt. Rooney. Its been fun. I'm making him VERY Irish. That time period and all - about 1938, I believe. And its set in New York.

I am really looking forward to it. The set look fantastic!!!

VERY professional.

Do we know at this point who is confirmed to attend the screening?

In other words...if Roger Moore shows up, will someone please, please, please, get a photo of the CBN attendees with da man.

Thank you.

I don't think we'll know for sure until we get there, but oh yeah, if Roger is attending, we won't miss a photo op....Presuming he is willing. We'll make sure to have Athena and the Irish Kitty ask him :)

Moneypenny my dear, do you have any idea who's confirmed since you are a guest of the guys?

Wow! I'll have met two of the five Bonds in less than three months if he does show up...That would be cool.

It will be good to see you again Ry.

As far as I know, it's the same Casa Bryce crew, but 004 won't be able to make it, however I am bringing the Irish Kitty along. There will be the inevitable shop talk afterwards, at least for a bit. I've sort of promised the Kitty some food at Dublin's. Irish girls require their Guinness along with some Bangers & mash.

Looking forward to it my friend;)

My friend Greg Bechtloff, who writes for "007" magazine, is going to be there, as will John Cork and Bruce Scivally who did the DVDs and wrote James Bond The Legacy (Athena will have one on each arm :)). It's going to be quite a night to meet some major Bond people.

Hey, are we wearing jackets and ties to this thing?

I'm planning on my usual jacket, slacks and either a turtleneck or open shirt. Not really a tie sort of night, but make your own call. Dressy yet casual.

Not sure what the Kitty will be wearing, preferably very little;)...assuming she's not carrying her knives.

I was going this way too. LA dressy/casual. I think LA is well on its way to becoming a tie-free city.

Pity...I enjoy my tie collection. Also, I inherited some of my Dad's ascots. Snazzy and swank.

Should be grand.

Noooooo! NOT a tie free city... that's horrable... LA sometimes really sucks. I like my men all clean cut and sleek (even snazzy and swank) :) just like the car that I do not have

So what did you gusy do after the screening. Obviously spent some time with Bruce Feirstein (can't believe I missed that). I knew I should have stayed. It was great to see you guys again and what a great time seeing LALD on the big screen!

I meet Bruce before the screening. The drunks went out for drinks afterwards. :)

Wow, I hadn't actually looked at this thread until just now (although I'd been aware of its existence for the past however-many days), and I'd assumed it was just a showing of LIVE AND LET DIE at some rep cinema in L.A., not the amazing, star-studded gathering for a good cause it evidently was.

Still, not being in L.A. I couldn't have gone to it anyway, but it sounds as though a good time was had by all.:)

Yes, and that "Long Slow Comfortable Screw Against the Wall" (*) ended up at the intersection of Wilshire and La Cienega.

Thanks a lot, Bryce. :)

Good a place as any.....Sorry...Seemed like the thing to do at the time. Send me the bill for your BMW's detailing.

In my defense, I did have my hands full at the valet stand with the two kitties....

:)

Moneypenny, I'm sorry if the the "screw" I gave you left you shaken or stirred;)

Quite the evening - both the screening and Dublin's.

OK...I have a couple of technical questions about this viewing:

1) Did it look like they digitally cleaned up the print of the film?
2) What did the panel talk about afterwards?
3) What did Halle have to say?

1. No. The print looked okay (not great). The sound was ****.
2. I would have liked more about LALD. The moderator, Elvis Mitchell, kept moving the topic off the film and onto the whole world of '70s Blaxploitation cinema and about the craft of acting, etc.
3. Congrats and yadda, yadda.

1) they used one of the old original reals
2) It was a benefit for Julius Harris... there were a few other Bond people there... Gloria Hendry (Rosie, LALD), Bruce Feirstein (writer: GE, TND, TWINE) Chris McGurk (pres of MGM), & Tom Mankiewicz (writer LALD & DAF). But it was mostly about Julius Harris.
3) And Halle Berry had a little congrads Julius video before the screening. I was going to write a review of the evening, but there really isn't much to say that hasn't already been said in the "hey there's this event going on for LALD" news story.

On Wednesday ZenCat and I zipped over to the Directors Guild Theater over on Sunset in Hollywood. We got there and got our tickets and then soon found John Cork & his wife. Along with Ry and his buddy. Bruce arrived next. Then ZenCat and I stood at one of the munch tables we saw Bryce (w/ a Kitty) arrive. We all stood around chatting it up. I was introduced to Tom Mankiewicz (write LALD & DAF), Bruce Feirstein (writer: GE, TND, TWINE) and then Chris McGurk (pres of MGM). And yes
