Here's how I would rate the Connery era villainesses. I find its easier for me to rank them than to pick just one best one. # 1 will be my best and #6 will be the worst (I'm not counting NSNA).

1. Fiona Volpe
2. Rosa Klebb
3. Helga Brandt
4. Pussy Galore
5. Miss Taro
6. Tiffany Case (If you can call her a villainess.)

Thats a shame Dove because NSNA has the best villainess of all the Bond movies (Moore, Connery, Dalton, Lazenby or Brosnan eras).

I'm not putting Fatima Blush down, I was only ranking and picking from the official Connery Bond villianesses. I do think Fatima was better than some of the other villianesses, including Miss Taro, or Tiffany Case, or Jenny Flex in A View to a Kill (if you could really call her a villianess. She's reallly a henchwoman to May Day.)

what is an "official" Connery Bond villainess...I never understood how EON movies became known as the "official" movies.

I'm voting for Fiona Volpe. I'm not particularly fond of Thunderball, but I'll still watch the film to see her. Just as sexy as she is deadly. :)

I am not paticularly fond of Thunderball either, it's a good solid Bond film but nothing special. Fiona Volpe is the best villainess of the Connery era. Yes, she is sexy and deadly and she is also a very powerful woman, even a man as powerful as Emilio Largo treats her with respect.

Fiona Volpe all the way! What a wicked foe to match wits with James Bond. The chase sequence and when she 'cuts in' on the dance floor. I am particulary fond of the scene where she takes 007 for a flight in her car. "I hope I didn't frighten you Mr Bond." -Pure genius!

Hmmm... that's a tough one. So many excellent choices to chose from. Although I really like Fatima Blush and Fiona Volpe, I have to vote for Lotte Lenya as Rosa Klebb in From Russia With Love.

Part of me wishes Miss Taro was a bit more evil?

Rosa followed by Fatima; razor close victory though. Lottie had the edge because her delivery was so close to the way Fleming wrote and a her character's roots in SMERSH.
Tough call though!

Fatima hands down.

If she's not allowed though, I'd go for Volpe as my next option.

Fiona Volpe then Rosa Klebb. Almost a tie, because they are both so different its hard to choose. But Volpe is a bit more clever dialogue-wise so I gave her the nod.

Tie between Rosa and Pussy Galore (if you could really call her a villainess. She was more a henchwoman).

Fiona Volpe for Connery era. Otherwise, I'd go with Xenia. I don't like much from the Brosnan era, but she is definitely one.
