yeah I agree.. they put a "B style" Cliffhanger vibe of the 1950's but put A+++++ Budget behind it..
Not just that.. but most of their movies have that feel in those early days.
I think to this day most of hollywood is doing what they did back in the Late 70's/early 80's to this day!! Mostly the Marketing/Promotion.
BUT I am just proud that Cubby & Roger still made a ton of money when this HUGE Time Period was just starting up (George & Steven).

Yeah I think the problem is "They" try to promote every movie released as the next big thing! The greatest thing since sliced bread..
It doesn't even matter when a movie is released.. they promote everything as a "summr blockbuster hit" OR "possible oscar winner"
back then.. they didn't do that. WE had ranges of movies.. movies now that are not really made by major studios, because they might be small and different
They want the one big weekend & then everything is the $1 Houses.
