I liked TWINE but I had problems with it. None of the Brosnan fims hit on all cylinders for me. The vanishing 3rd act syndrome has been a big problem in this era.

The Pretitle in Spain is one of my favorite scenes in the entire series and the problem with TWINE is it goes down hill from there. Every scene is progressively weaker throughout the film. The tone was serious but then it gets interupted with stupid gadgets like the shades he wears in the casino or airbag jacket-I didn't care for those items.I thought they made Bond look ridiculous.

Having a woman be the main villian and having a personal agenda against M was fresh. I've always liked Sophie Marceau. Denise Richards always looks good but her character was poorly written and not nearly as appealing as her competition.

Renard was supposed to be a redherring. I was hoping for a great arch Terrorist villian a la "Carlos the Jackal" and I felt let down by him.TWINE wasn't nearly as bad as DAD. EON making us wait an extra year for such a poor film adds to the bitterness. :)

It wasn't EON, it was Brosnan.

Brosnan stated he wanted a three year break after TWINE so he could pursue other projects. You can't blame the guy, one of these days he is going to be too old to play 007 and wants his acting resume to be more than 007 and a string of B-movies.

I dont mind the three year breaks, but I hope when they get a new Bond, they go back to the 2 year break.

TWINE is by far my favourite. instantly watchable. And actually Christmas is one of the strongest female characters ever in a Bond film... just Richard turns her into the 21 year old bimbo that she is. I think that the cinematography and visual style is great... the interesting use of close up, some interesting shot framing and mise en scene. It's original and I didn't see the twist coming at all. The action is enjoyable to bearable and the film's only weakness. However high I put it on my list though I can never watch it in one block anymore and doesn't have a patch on it's mentor film OHMSS.

I'd like to add some more thoughts on the film from my initial post. I love the dialogue scenes, every scene is full of emotion and the dialogue sparkles (come back Bruce, you should polish the dialogue on every future Bond scipt!).

The huge problem I have, and it really does a diservice to the film, is the way the movie grinds to a halt as the next action set piece plays out. Sittting at home, you can skip the caviar factory sequence completely and not miss any bits of plot. Same can be said of the ski chase too, silo shoot out works though, cause its a natural progression of the plot.

I decided to go watch TWINE today to give a better ranking.

The acting was ok, Brosnan was picking a bit of "Mooreitis" as he was giving silly puns throughout the movie. Denise Richards' acting wasn't bad, wasn't good. slightly average. plot's a little hokey, especially with Renard's character entirely. Enough Balanced action scenes (and Arnold's music gives it good flourish).

My ranking: Not the best, not the worst. average if you were ranking all 20 Bond films from best to worst.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Dr. Cheese. Dr. Jones was a good character. But Denise, while capable, was just too fresh-faced and girl next door. But I love her anyway.

TWINE is great. I love the movie. I watched the whole thing with my mom last night and she said it was great. In terms of Brozzie's films, I'd rank it #2, just behind DAD.

I prefer TWINE over DAD. TWINE to me just seems to be more of a Bond film, while DAD is more like XXX (style wise). Die Another Day was a much better movie than XXX though.

This review doesn't fly with me. Obviously, this person isn't a regular Bond fan. Second, compairing the Bond movies to the Matrix and Die Hard stating that Bond needs to raise the bar doesn't sit well with me. Well, who knows, maybe by the next movie Keanu might be the next Bond (reference Canadian Bond Thread) if this person had it her way. Finally, rating a movie by having a "Black Factor" is rather biased.

And I think it's been said to death on this board Dr Jones even figures out that the submarine is nuclear instead of Bond.

and just to hammer the point in further
*Dr Jones saves Bond's life by opening the missile silo door
*drives the machine thingamjig in the pipe
*defuses the nuclear bomb (or wouldve if it was actually nuclear and wasnt stopped by bond)
*explains to bond (and us) what could be done with half the required plutoniam
*fights the water current to let bond back into the submarine

she does all this while wearing tank tops and see through white shirts, pretty damn good bond girl in my opinion.
