The latest reports from local media say filming is possible in both Obertilliach and Sölden, the latter of which is a major ski resort.

That Austrian report also says that

most people in Obertillach thinks that it's gonna double for Spitsbergen. Sounds possible, but the question is wether they'll really go to Sölden, then. No sense going to a major ski resort and then have it double for a remote location within the arctic circle. The Sölden tourist board wouldn't be to pleased about this. Two options: One - Austria will be Austria. Shooting at Obertillach, maybe Sölden. Two - Austria will be Spitsbergen. Shooting at Obertillach only. Tourist board in Sölden tries to make the best of it and does not deny any rumors (and maybe spreads a few themselves) of a possible B24 shooting as long as only very few details are known.

Whatever happens, it very much looks like Bond will be back on skis.

if there is going to be some kind of plane crash.......they should do it in a way that would not be similar to real life airplane incident that has happen earlier this year.......I presume it is part of the plot perhaps in the middle of the movie

Same. With Sam Mendes back directing, I also can't shake the feeling that this will have something to do with Bond's past. I'm starting to get on board with those rumors of Bond's parents finally making an appearance....

I'm actually on the opposite side of the fence. I think we'll see more of a human side of Bond, as we have with the last three films, but I don't think anything else from his past should be brought up. That side of him is closed now, especially after his childhood home was blown up. Anything else that involves his parents or childhood past as part of the plot, and they'll just start trying to repeat that plot device or whatever from Skyfall.

Building a set, blowing it up spectacularly, and throwing in a brief appearance of Bond's parents? It seems too reminiscent of the ending of SF. Maybe if Bond's "father figure" Hannes Oberhauser from the short story "Octopussy" was involved it would tie in with the Austrian backdrop - but I'm not convinced that this is to do with Bond's mother and father. (Though I may be wrong!)

I think the issue of Bond's parents shouldn't be brought up again. Deaver's retconned version of making them - or his mother? - spies didn't sit well with me. SKYFALL is about as far as it should go in my opinion, not further.

On the set, this seems to be too close to actual buildings for huge explosions. But might this not be the location for a major shootout?
