Luc Besson's MALAVITA moved up to September 20th
Additionally, Relativity’s Malavita has been moved up from its original release date of October 18th to September 20th. The film stars Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Tommy Lee Jones and centers on notorious mafia family who gets relocated to Normandy as part of the witness protection program. Though they’re seemingly out of harm’s way, the family finds it hard to let go of some of their more colorful old habits and soon find themselves “handling things the ‘family’ way.”
Dianna Agron (Glee) and John D’Leo (Wanderlust) also star, and the pic will square off against the Hugh Jackman/Jake Gyllenhal thriller Prisoners, director Ron Howard’s racing drama Rush, and the Elizabeth Banks comedy Walk of Shame on its new September date.
I'm not sure that this move really does much to help the film, but getting to see it a month earlier is not a bad thing. Can't wait to see what Luc Besson and Martin Scorcese have put together with this brilliant cast.
Also, regarding news that has been discussed in another thread regarding the future of the Fast & Furious franchise:
James Wan in talks to direct FAST & FURIOUS 7
Deadline now says that James Wan, director of Saw, Death Sentence, Insidious, and the upcoming The Conjuring and Insidious Chapter 2, is in talks to take over the franchise.
According to the site, a deal has not been signed yet, but Wan himself tweeted this tonight - "Vroom Vroooom..."
This could be great for the F&F franchise. James Wan is a talented director, and I can't wait to see how he fares in moving from horror to action.
