Well, "Jurassic World" in general seems to be basically a remake of the first one - and frankly, the formula is so set, what else can it be? Dinosaurs running amok in an amusement park.
This time, they have a slight twist with the new creature - but again, what else can that one do but hunt down the guests?
So, this is basically fast food filmmaking 101 - we know what we´re going to get, and it might be fun (I do like Chris Pratt), but it can hardly be very special.
The teaser, however, was intriguing to me. But it just is a teaser - so, let´s wait for more to... gulp down.
"Pan", by the way, was made interesting to me by one element only: Hugh Jackman´s performance. He really seems to have embraced the villain part, looking and sounding very different and having fun with it.
That's a great hair piece Arnold has.
Oh, yes - at least the lighting in that picture does it no favors. Or Arnold on the whole. I wonder why he allowed that unflattering portrait to be used for PR.
I´m very doubtful about the whole thing, by the way. The nostalgic part of me is thrilled to get a reboot that incorporates the classic elements - the realist, however, says: what can this be but more of the same... and worse?
But maybe all these reboots have to fail so that Hollywood concludes that it has to introduce new original stuff. Otherwise - what will they reboot in 10 years?
By the rate old concepts get remade Hollywood will offer a remake of "Lord of the Rings" and "Harry Potter" in a few years. And when "Star Wars IX" is done - I would not be surprised if Disney announced: And now, we are remaking the first and the second trilogy again so that it will fit with the modern standard of effects audiences have grown accustomed to!
