I just had images of him as almost a 'sidekick' for a portion of the film with his gadgety/armoury helping Bond out in a few situations, almost like leading Bond girl for recent years, Dame Judi Dench... but this sounds good for now.

I'm just wondering if there will be a Layer Cake reference.
Yeah, Q is going to shoot Bond as he walks down the steps of Stoke Park. Or we'll hear Craig shout "I f****** hate guns!" at Q when they meet at the gallery.

Indeed. Probably not over the phone though, but via that earpiece we've seen Bond wearing during filming.I think at most Q will be communicating with Bond over the phone like M was in CR and QOS and we'll get back to Bond getting his mission from M and Q branch helping out along the way.

My bad, phone/ear piece/blue tooth/etc. Which ever device Bond is using I fell Q will be on the other end for now on and if needed M.

007 gets his quartermaster! Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, producers of the 23rd James Bond adventure, SKYFALL, announced today that the character of Q will be making a welcome return to the Bond franchise and confirmed that the role will be played by British actor Ben Whishaw.

Yeah, I remember someone saying there seemed to be a Q mug on his desk when the first pic was released. Good to have that confirmed.Nice detail in the trailer of Q's Scrabble mug on his desk.

How many films until they 'do a Pegg' and have him out in the field with Bond?

I can see him becoming a real fan favourite even from the little glimpse in the trailer.
Re-wachting "The Hour" now, with him calling the main female protagonist "Moneypenny", makes me laugh. Guy was a fan way before.

The trailer showing Q handing over the signature PPK/S shows that he is a real Quartermaster and not just a computer technical wizard. Whether there will be any other gadgets remains to be seen.
Yes, and a real sadistic geek: “Less of a random killing machine, more of a personal statement” Also: "Sometimes a trigger must be pulled"
The guy is gagging for some killing ain´t he? I seem to recall reading somewhere that Q would only make sense if he was a professional who would devise different ways of killing people. Who said that? Was it Craig in an interview? Someone did.
Anyways, I like this new angle on Q. Must get me one of those mugs.

Hi everyone, new to forums area. So has it been established yet whether or not Q in Skyfall is Boothroyd, or if he is another character akin say to how John Cleese's R became Q in DAD?
