The new Bond girl Berenice Marlohe was in Venice recently to inaugurate the new Omega boutique. Click on the link below to see the photo gallery:

Below is the interview that the actress granted Sky.it.
http://mag.sky.it/ma...intervista.html

Berenice, the Bond girl who sings in the shower

Neither femme fatale nor beautiful brunette, simply Bond Girl. Her name is Berenice Marlohe, born in Paris 33 years ago, and paired with Naomie Harris is the feminine side of Skyfall, 23rd film in the series, due out in autumn. Alongside them, the 007 Daniel Craig looks even more beautiful. He absorbs light and splendor of these beautiful girls. Sky.it met Berenice Marlohe in Venice, during the inauguration of the new Omega boutique, a brand that always ( :S ) marks the time of the Ian Fleming's hero and which she is ambassador of.

Ms. Marlohe which was your first contact with James Bond?
As a child in France. I saw his films on television.

Which of them intrigued you?
The first, Dr. No (in Italy Agent 007 - License to Kill, ed)

Your iconic Bond Girl?
Undoubtedly, Ursula Andress. But not mine, she is the symbol.

And yours?
Halle Berry playing Jinx Jacinta Johnson: she found a very original way to be bad.

Are you very femme fatale in Skyfall?
It's a weapon being so. An extra weapon.

Who is nowadays a femme fatale?
A woman with a sense of humor, sense of initiative and charm.

Your character's name is Severine and is inspired by a character in the novel "Venus in Furs" written by Sacher-Masoch.
(Laughs) I know what you're getting.

So?
I can only tell you that in the film "Venus in Furs" there is a song that inspired the role.

Why Omega?
Since I was a child I ever dreamed of the moon more than the sun and then when I heard that Omega has been on the moon I fell in love with it.

James Bond for the first time will drink beer. ( :S)
I know that Heineken accompanies 007. I have not participated in those scenes. The Martini is always tied to the character but now there is an interesting alternative.

Is it true that you have a good voice?
Of course. Any doubts?

I should hear you singing in the shower.
Usually I intone Mahler's fifth symphony .

Really?
The music is important for me and I studied the piano for five years.

You're also a painter.
I do portraits and abstract designs. I confess that one day I'd like to do an exhibition.

How is Sam Mendes as a director?
He's a great man with great humanity. And he's also a professional with a sense of humor.

How are you with social networks?
Neither Twitter nor Facebook. But I watch many videos on Youtube.

Naomie Harris saw Craig half naked ... You?
What about me?

Did you see the other half?
(She laughs again) Perhaps. But I will not tell.

How do you see yourself in twenty years?
A large house on the beach with my family and many friends and good food.

Do they use to define you a "beautiful brunette"?
Two words are a bit few to define me.

Would you like a dictionary?
Let's say they are fine but I'd use a lot more.

Hmm... Interesting, I just "wikipedied" that and apparently there have been 5 films adapted from this novella. Hard to tell which song from which film was inspirational.
But the Velvet Underground also made a song titled "Venus in Furs" in 1967, inspired by the same book. Maybe that's what she is referring to? (lyrics below).
It might be worth noticing that in the original novella, "Severin" (and not SeverinE) is a man.

Shiny, shiny, shiny boots of leather
Whiplash girlchild in the dark
Comes in bells, your servant, don't forsake him
Strike dear mistress, and cure his heart
Downy sins of streetlight fancies
Chase the costumes she shall wear
Ermine furs adorn the imperious
Severin, severin awaits you there

I am tired, I am weary
I could sleep for a thousand years
A thousand dreams that would awake me
Different colors made of tears

Kiss the boot of shiny, shiny leather
Shiny leather in the dark
Tongue of thongs, the belt that does await you
Strike dear mistress, and cure his heart
Severin, severin, speak so slightly
Severin, down on your bended knee
Taste the whip, in love not given lightly
Taste the whip, now bleed for me

I am tired, I am weary
I could sleep for a thousand years
A thousand dreams that would awake me
Different colors made of tears

Shiny, shiny, shiny boots of leather
Whiplash girlchild in the dark
Severin, your servant comes in bells, please don't forsake him
Strike dear mistress, and cure his heart

...

You are the new Bond Girl. Can you tell us about your character "Severin"? Ally, adversary?
Severine is a person we can not define. The fact of not knowing if it's a nice or nasty is precisely what is exciting! When I worked on this character, I have identified a very complex personality. But everything else is top secret! We will soon discover who she is ...

You will become the new # 1 fantasy of men who see the film. What this will change for you?
What is very interesting with James Bond, especially this one, is that we have the chance to embody the characters very glamorous , but not only. Severine has a very dark side, masculine, she likes power, but she also has a great sense of humor. I love this concept because this is how I see the women as well. Your sense of femininity is defined by your character, your personality and how you design life.

...

Sounds like another must-get mag.

00-Heaven: New Bond Girl Berenice Marlohe smoulders in lingerie for new shoot... but don't expect to see her strip off in SkyFall

Stunning new Bond Girl Berenice Marlohe has stripped off for the new issue of GQ, revealing her knockout figure in racy lingerie.
But despite appearing scantily clad for the mens magazine, the 33-year-old reveals that her fans may be left a little disappointed by the lack of nudity in the upcoming 007 film SkyFall.
'With the Bond movies, you never really see nudity - they're quite chaste, actually,' the French beauty says. 'Which is, to me, the best way.

'Nowadays you see too many naked women, all the time, everywhere. In video clips. It's so boring! You lose this magic and suddenly a woman that is dressed seems way more attractive.'

Despite her comments, Berenice simply sizzles in sheer lacy lingerie in her photoshoot for GQ, with just an unbutton black coat to provide some modesty.
The actress' flat stomach and toned legs are on display as she poses seductively next to vintage cars.

Berenice admits that she felt trepidation at the thought of taking on such an iconic role as a Bond Girl when she was offered the part.
'I kept hearing it all the time - Bond girl, Bond girl, Bond girl - and I thought, "Oh my God, what do people expect?"' Merlohe reveals.
'"Do they just expect someone who is pretty? What do they want me to do?"'
It is doubtful that the actress, with her smouldering looks, has much to worry about in that department.
But it hasn't been an easy ride for the rising star, who says her appearance actually held her back from landing roles in her native France.
'All the French agents told me, "No, you don't look like a French actress, this will not work",' she explained. 'Even people who saw me in acting workshops and wanted to introduce me to people; when those people considered my picture, they said, "No, she will never work in France". I don't know what to say. I was not in the mould.'

Bérénice Marlohe Interview For ‘Skyfall’

Daniel Craig is back as James Bond 007 in ’Skyfall,’ the 23rd installment of the longest-running film franchise in history. In ’Skyfall,’ Bond’s loyalty to M (Judi Dench) is tested as her past returns to haunt her. 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost. When Bond’s latest assignment goes gravely wrong and several undercover agents around the world are exposed, MI6 is attacked, forcing M to relocate the agency. These events cause her authority and position to be challenged by Mallory (Ralph Fiennes), the new Chairman of the Intelligence and Security Committee. With MI6 now compromised from both inside and out, M is left with one ally she can trust: Bond. 007 takes to the shadows – aided only by field agent, Eve (Naomie Harris) – following a trail to the mysterious Silva (Javier Bardem), whose lethal and hidden motives have yet to reveal themselves. Directed by Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Revolutionary Road, Road to Perdition), ’Skyfall’ also stars Bérénice Marlohe, Ben Whishaw, Tonia Sotiropoulou, Albert Finney and Ola Rapace. ‘Skyfall’ will begin its worldwide roll-out in the UK and Ireland on October 26th, with a North American release following on November 9th.

How did you approach your character in the ’Skyfall,’ Severine? She‘s complex and enigmatic….
Bérénice Marlohe: I felt that I could use my own personality and imagination to create my character’s style. Having that freedom, knowing that this kind of movie allowed me to be something you wouldn’t necessarily see in other movies. Severine is the link between Bond and Silva. She’s a very mysterious woman. I wanted her to have a lot of substance. Severine, she’s a love interest to Bond – which was very difficult to play (laughs). But she’s an ally, and at the same time she can be an enemy. She’s difficult to explain – which is why she was appealing to me (laughs)! She’s very complex. There’s a range of colours to play a Bond character, so I think that was very interesting. Severine, she’s really a femme fatale, there’s complexity to her – which I liked very much.

What was your reaction to being cast in ’Skyfall’?
Bérénice Marlohe: It was funny because I felt connected with this James Bond universe for many, many years. And when I heard they were doing an audition for a role I knew I would fight so much for that (laughs). So when they told me I was chosen I felt a huge sensation of peace (laughs). It felt so good, I was so excited to work on ‘Skyfall’ and with the cast of the film, and Sam Mendes.

You joined a fantastic cast, lead by Daniel Craig’s James Bond….
Bérénice Marlohe: Definitely. What Daniel Craig brings to the James Bond part is first of all charisma, as an actor – he’s just so talented. He’s so alive and you can see everything in his eyes, you can see the inner life of the character. Everybody in this cast is great. Like Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem is also very charismatic and gifted. It was wonderful working with everyone.

What characteristics do you think make interesting “Bond ladies” in this 007 franchise?
Bérénice Marlohe: Bond ladies don’t generally look like models, they have a specific look to them. I think first of all you have to have a look that fits to the movie. And then hopefully be a good actress (laughs). I like the term Bond lady, it’s an important difference to the title, instead of Bond girl (laughs). I hope the fans will be very impressed by the two lead women in ‘Skyfall,’ with Naomie Harris and me. I hope people really enjoy our characters.

How did you find it working under the direction of Sam Mendes in ‘Skyfall’?
Bérénice Marlohe: I feel that I couldn’t find a better director to work with, most of all for my first English-speaking role. Becaus Sam Mendes is so brilliant at his work and he’s also so wonderful as a human being. He gives you a lot of freedom to act, and he’s also very humble and funny. All of that creates a great atmosphere to work in. I was so happy to have the chance to work with him on ‘Skyfall.’
