We are three months into the production of Skyfall, so I think it's time to have a discussion thread dedicated to the new Bond girls ( or Bond ladies, according to the definition given by Sam Mendes during the Skyfall's official press conference).

http://entertainment...wn-bond-stunts/

Naomie Harris doing her own Bond stunts

Naomie Harris revealed she is doing all her own stunts on the new James Bond film 'Skyfall' while speaking at the BAFTAs in London last night (12.02.12).

Naomie Harris is doing all her own stunts in the new James Bond movie.

The actress plays special agent Eve in the next 007 adventure 'Skyfall' and she has been relentlessly hitting the gym to ensure she is in the best possible shape for the film's numerous action sequences.

Speaking at the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs) at London's Royal Opera House on Sunday night (12.02.12), she told BANG Showbiz: "I'm trying to do all my own stunts. I've done them all so far. In a couple of weeks we've got another big stunt thing, so I don't know if I can do all of them. But I'm trying to!"

However, any fans hoping to see Naomie showing off her fit figure in a bikini will be disappointed as she claims she doesn't have a traditional Bond girl swimwear scene.

She said: "I don't have any bikini scenes so I'm just training to keep up with all the stunts."

Naomie has been having a great time on set with Daniel Craig - who is reprising his role as the British spy for a third time - and director Sam Mendes and has been blown away by Daniel's work ethic and devotion to the role.

She explained: "Daniel is amazing. We do 12-14 hours of filming and then after, every day, he does two hours of training on top of that in the gym. He works so hard and he's always in a great mood. I really adore him.

"It really has been so fantastic. It's so weird because you forget almost, about the pressure, and Sam Mendes is such a lovely director, there is an amazing atmosphere on set. It's very very calm and intimate actually. Sometimes it feels like a low budget film, which is fantastic. I forget it's Bond."

To mark the 50th anniversary of James Bond on the big screen the BAFTAs opened with a performance of 'Thunderball' - the theme song of the film of the same name - by Sir Tom Jones.

Host Stephen Fry also paid tribute to the franchise praising the character and the films for celebrating "British eccentricity".

I hope the writers of SKYFALL find a way to shake the formula up a bit - that is, find a more imaginative way to handle the secondary Bond girl (Severine). That is, let her live. The last time we had this happen was in LICENCE TO KILL, when Lupe - who would normally have bitten it - was allowed to have a happy ending...

Anyone else hoping that both ladies survive?

No real news here for us cbn-ers, however this statement is quite interesting:

When we asked if Eve was an ally or a baddie, she responded, “My character would like to see herself as a female Bond but I don’t think anyone’s really a match for Bond.”

Pretty much at the beginning, she said, that Eve likes to think of herself as being Bond equals, but finds out, that indeed she is not. What I like about that is, that there is a good chance for some comic situations, when she fails at something and might get into banter with Bond...could be quite the opposite, too, when she fails and brings them into serious trouble - but however that might be, its good for something interesting IMO.

The full interview has some more bits of interest about both of the women:-

Harris - her character has a Walther PPK and the actress is learning to kickbox. The character is described as a match for Bond both intellectually and on the action level by the producers, albeit I accept we have heard that sort of thing countless times before. That the audition piece was the Casino Royale train scene (do they even do product placement in the auditions?) tends to confirm she is the the principal female lead - the Dench aside. Has basically filmed at Pinewood in the main.

Marlohe - is trying to gain more of an English-sounding accent and isn't doing as much physical training as Harris, by her own admission. However, does have some "stunts" or something like stunts and does posses a "Bond-like" gadget. Claims to have already filmed in Turkey "and some other places where the movie is being shot", alongside London.

West Australian Nicole Trufino auditioned for a role in SKYFALL, but was unsuccessful. The reason why I'm posting this here is because the article contains her audition tape, and with Jim's comments about how Naomie Harris auditioned with the train scene, I thought people might be interested to see how other actors fared.

Yes, I´ve seen that Trufino audition... Good luck...as a model!

The point is that she is completely different than Harris, but resembles a bit like Marlohe. So maybe it´s a standard audition piece for both girls (good and evil?)...

Of course, the interesting thing would be to see their auditions (NH and BM)!

Instead of making the role her own, she's trying waaaay too hard to be Eva Green. The "cut of your suit" line in particular sounds like something that comes out of a fan video made by a group of kids with a camcorder and a rainy Sunday afternoon.

A bit unfair to judge someone by an audition video. Especially in a scene one knows from a finished movie.

I’m getting more convinced that she’s a villain and (perhaps) this gadget is her signature gimmick for killing people.

Who among us can honestly claim to have never imitated Eva Green during a job interview?

Unfair? And how do you think the producers choose the actress?...

You know that it is a very different situation for producers to sit in front of an actress in the nerve wrecking casting situation and judge her - and for the audience who has seen the film with another actress (and not the dailies in which that actress may have played this scene many times, better or worse).

I´m not saying that this particular actress is good or bad. I´m just asking for a bit of perspective. We never saw the whole casting video of Eva Green, by the way. And even if I may consider her a great actress, who can say that she nailed this scene perfectly on her first try?

She probably had to nail her audition scene in order to get the role.

You're right in saying that the casting director is in a very different situation to us as audience members, but I'm willing to bet that what they're looking for is someone who walked in and made the scene their own. Each audition would be subtely - if not blatantly - different to the next. If I were SKYFALL's casting director, I would probably be looking for someone who can walk into the room and acknowledge Green's performance, but also provide a different interpretation of the character. Green's Vesper was confident, a little prickly, and sassy (can white guys use the word "sassy"?). And that's fine. Trufino's problem is that she's just trying to copy Green's mannerisms, voice and attitude. But since Vesper doesn't appear in SKYFALL, how can this be considered a decent audition?

Agreed. It's superficial and unimaginative, like auditioning for Bond by doing one's best Connery impression.

Naomie Harris discusses Bond auditions

Naomie Harris had “only three auditions” for her role as Bond girl Eve.
The actress had expected a much longer casting process but was surprised to discover she got the job so quickly.
The star also revealed she had to play out a scene from previous Bond movie Casino Royale during her auditions.
“My agent represents Eva Green and Olga Kurylenko – the last two Bond girls – and she said that it is a very long process, but it was only three auditions,” she told Total Film. “I read the scene on the train in Casino Royale with the casting director. Then I had to do the same thing on tape for my second audition. My third was with [director] Sam [Mendes] and [producer] Barbara [Broccoli]. Sam wanted to give me directions and see how we worked together.”
Naomie also revealed that unlike other previous Bond girls, she didn’t get to film in exotic locations.
James Bond’s adventures often span the globe and see the cast travel to glamorous sets all over the world.
However, the brunette beauty shot her scenes at the famous English Pinewood Studios.
“I haven’t filmed in any other countries,” she said. “My scenes have been in Pinewood studios, but they’re very glamorous!”

There was a rumour that Naomie Harris would be featured in a stunt sequence driving a Land Rover Defender, and I can only imagine that would be shot in Turkey, so perhaps she'll eventually get overseas for some filming.

I quite like it that they use Casino Royale scenes for the auditions. It looks like the team wants to make something on the spirit of it. That's good!

As we saw with the Trufino audition, they used Bond's first encounter with Vesper for the audition process. Unpopular as it is for the infamous Rolex/Omega line, I think it's a pretty good choice for auditioning.

Not sure I like the sound of this, to be honest, assuming she is the main female character. Nevertheless, thanks for posting this, Luigi!

Sure, she has not bee n to exotic locations, as Turkey is still ahead. I am sure, her character will go there.

Naomie Harris is yet to see 007 Daniel Craig on set in his trunks

SKYFALL actress Naomie Harris says she is yet to see 007Daniel Craig on set in his blue trunks. The 35-year-old has been working on the latest Bond adventure since October and it’s proving to be a huge job.

“It’s going really well but we don’t finish until May. It’s a big movie,” she says.
Craig, 44, sadly hasn’t been flaunting his body in the swimwear that he famously wore for his Bond debut in 2006’s Casino Royale.
“He’s great. He’s such a nice guy. There’s been no trunks,” she laments.
And it’s been fairly low key off-set. “We’ve been to a couple of dinners but there is no time for all that when we’re working so hard.”
She adds that she’s pleased with the costume she wears to play an agent called Eve as it’s not a typical Bond girl outfit.
“It’s nothing too sexy. She’s more of a tomboy, which I love.”
