Maybe Silva is an illegitimate member of the Royal family and M's the only person able to prove it. Silva doesn't want to kill her, he wants her to confess how she's stolen him from his cot at Buckingham.

Always knew we azoreans would have someone in the throne of England one day.

Guess the orange trade really payed off. We had the Victorians there. Even after the Napolianic wars, citrus were currency and we had them, or so History says. So we had a close bond with England fo a couple of centuries. That being said. I´m sure Silva being Azorean is simply an "exotic"/neutral move from the writers.

Bardem certainly looks more like an Azorean than Mads Mikkelsen looks like an Albanian.

Hmm...do you think Purvis and Wade have re-booted their screenplay for 'Johnny English' where the French villain, Pascal Sauvage, is actually a member of the Royal Family, and he abducts the Queen and forces abdication so he can become King and take over Great Britain, and the world, with this royal power, leaving English to evade his superiors to prove it and stop him!

Now they want Silva to be a far decendant of the Royal Family and M is the one who knows this and Silva will stop at nothing bring down the monarchy and get himself crownded King, take over Great Britian and soon, the world, and put M back in her place, leaving Bond to evade his superiors to stop him?

...maybe not actually...never mind!

I think a Bond film focusing on a plot to topple the British Monarchy would be quite interesting.

Funny, that's how I felt watching 'Quantum Of Solace' with Greene and Medrano. Too much focus about the water hoarding in Bolivia, and it was a case of just...meh, I don't really care about that outcome either way.

That's why I hope 'Skyfall' poses a much deeper, larger threat, and starting with a very well known world capital, London, get's my attention striaght away.

I'd love to know the extent of the input Haggis had though. Did he just tweak things here or there or just take one glance and say "Right, leave it to me" ??

Now that would be an idea for Blueray extras, an option that displays the authors of every scene and line of dialogue. Would make for some hoots, no doubt.

If you look at it like that, then remember this film also has an extra writer in John Logan.

Well exactly. Purvis and Wade have been lucky enough to hide behind the 'polish' of Haggis for CR and QOS (which, admittedly, were not amazing scripts but better than the pulp they turned out for TWINE and DAD). This time, they have Logan to hide behind. I just want to know where to give the praise if Skyfall is exceptionally written.

We all know that Ian Fleming created "Operation Golden Eye" in WW2 and named his estate in Jamaica "Goldeneye."
Perhaps, M and Kincade like Fleming created Operation SkyFall (OSF) and named it after Bonds parents estate because OSF involved recruiting orphans who are in service, Bond being in the Navy at the time. Bond's family estate was erased from the records by M and Kincade so that Bond has no ties to anything but his duty, although Kincade secretly confiscates it. Silva is chosen as a recruit but after learning of OSF he attempt's to escape and is arrested. When Silva escapes he murders the rest of the OSF agents in MI6 who helped arrested him, then goes after M and maybe even Kincade?

I was just thinking I have more reason to think this might be right because;
why else would M go to the funeral unless she felt bad knowing she is the only one that is even aware of their existence.

Please don't let it another case of 'James Bond was always destined to join MI6.'

I got enough of that from Higson's children's novels.

In terms of plot, are we to see any gadgets? We know that Ben Wishaw is playing Q, or 'B', so i guess we'll see something.

But i was wondering if anyone knew if Bond would be given anything specific. The production by and large has been top-secret hush-hush infuriatingly tight-lipped, so is that the reason why we haven't heard anything gadget-wise?

If Bond is given any spy equipment, I want it to be something that could be used by a spy today - nothing "futuristic" like an invisible car, a laser watch, mobile phone remote control car etc that we've seen in previous films. Craig's Bond films have shown us gadgets like GPS mobile phone apps and compartments in cars that include defibrillators and gun holders - a little out there, but believable.

If Bond is given a gadget, I want it to be something that could spy on his target - pin hole cameras and microphones to spy on his enemies etc.

Take a hint from Spooks (known in the US/Canada as MI:6 i think) for realistic gadgets
