No, no, no...It was all Mankiewicz. Remember Hamilton gave us Goldfinger, which was written by the great Richard Maibaum, from the excellent book from Ian Fleming. Mankiewicz was all wrong for a Bond movie.
Couldn't one argue that Goldfinger was all Maibaum, then? Begs the question, how important is the director to a Bond film? Of course, Terence Young was critical because he defined the character. After him, and with a nod to Hunt for OHMSS, the direction in most of the films could have been interchangeable.
