The cover is proof that the release is just the already existing 2 disk release. I have quite a few DVDs from the "Definitive" range with that same cover, and all of them are just re-releases of older 2 Disk releases or in other cases 2 disk releases that we never got in region 4 to begin with. For example:

The whole range is just repackaged releases of older 2-disk releases and is only region 4. The speculation can end.

It wont. Also I must be the odd one out because I actually like the cover art.

Other sites are reporting this is a new version on Blu and DVD and will include commentaries, so either someone has gotten hold of this and blown it all out of proportion or QOS is arriving in a UE style version.

a lot of the sites are basing it on the fact that forster had said before that he was doing a commentary and also made reference to the deleted ending. none of them have stated that they have confirmation from the studio on any features, they just cite their source as a bond fan site.

I like it as well. I didn't want to say so for fear of persecution.

Update! This DVD has now been renamed a "Special Edition" and given the same artwork as the special edition DVD released elsewhere in the world last year.

This should put to rest any confusion that this is a new DVD release.

Possibly around the time that Bond 23 is released. Whenever that is. *sigh*

I wouldnt bet on the 3 disk set ever being released if Bond 23 is, as is most likely, delayed beyond 2011. Usually these big sets are released within a year of the first DVD release. Obviously they were holding out with QoS's big set to coincide with Bond 23 as they did with CR. But by 2012 or later too much time has going to have passed since QoS for them to bother releasing an extravagant box set for it. I'm betting that we'll have to wait a long time, until the next time the whole series is re-released with new features, to see the QoS deleted scenes.

As we get ever closer to the release of SF, has there been any talk of a proper release of QoS on DVD?

What with celebrations and anniversaries and exhibitions, I cannot imagine this will not be released this year. I am however surprised we haven't heard anything of it just yet.

Cheers.

Great question.

Sadly i don't see them releasing any special editions when they've got the BR box set released later this year. I think that's our lot, but perhaps the set's QoS will have the infamous deleted scene(s)...

I'm hoping the QOS commentary & deleted scenes will be part of the "new and exclusive content" that was promised in the new Blu-ray box set out later this year. Sadly, still no more specifics on this set outside of what we got at CES & in the press release.
