Ever since seeing CR, I went from weighing 23 stone to 11 and a half stone in less than a year, 8 months to be exact, thanks to working out 6 days out of 7, drinking lots of water and not eating after 6pm. I got a modestly defined 6 pack and am in the best shape in my life, I have girls constantly showing me attention much to the frustration of my g/f and clothes, man I'm telling you, I can buy and wear clothes that I never thought I could ever dream of wearing and my suits are all bespoke, equipped with the white square hanky in breast pocket and my level of overall attitude and confidence is through the roof.
However, I stay humble because I know where I've come from, what I used to look like and how hard I worked to get my fat bum into shape. When I went to Italy recently, I took my blue swim shorts with me and walked around in those...it's amazing what having a decent looking body can do for you.
Oh, I also bought myself a Omega PO big size last summer.

What? You lost 50 % of your body weight?!!!???

Perhaps i'm being ignorant...but how can you do that in 8 months without fainting constantly?

As an example, I went from 175 lbs to 160 lbs over the course of about a six month period in 2007. That's about 8.5 % body weight reduction which I am quite happy with.

That's a great story, double o. B)

It's great what Craig Bond inspired you to do.

Congratulations!

Thanks. When I say it was hard work, it really was hard work. I fainted a few times and felt light headed for the first 3 months but milk and primarily water as the only form of liquid, cutting out fizzy drinks and alcohol as well as cutting out the usual take aways, sweet stuff and snacks helped. I learnt that, most of the time I wasn't even hungry. I was just bored or mistook thirst for hunger and thus ended up stuffing my face and overeating. However, to keep myself sane, I eat a bit of junk every two weeks on fridays.

I'm surprised so many are motivated to fitness from a movie! Whatever works for you I guess.

I think your missing the point, you already have the confidence and discipline to keep fit, surely someone or something triggered this. This time around DC at 41 who would put guys half his age in the shade has spurred on others to take that step to get fit(ter).

It's very clear to me that one need's that certain 'trigger' or 'role model' (terrible cliche'd term) to propel one into making a change of sorts.

I was, as an example, 'fit' in school...then it took Russell Crowe's Gladiator to push me to get fit and 'bulked up'...then I fell off the wagon again in the mid 00s...until CraigBond came along.

The pocket square hanky thing in the suit jacket breast pocket thing is similar...You need someone sometimes to 'show you the way again'.

CraigBond, it seems, has done that for some of us. Loomis, Double O Ego and yours truly, as examples, it would seem.

Definitely! I'm only 24 and a man that was in his late 30s at the time was in phenomenal shape while I was busy letting myself go. On a matter of principle, it just wasn't right and if I'm to be honest, Craig wasn't my only inspiration. The fat guy from Drake and Josh on the nickelodian channel lost a tonne of weight too as well as Peter Jackson but with Craig, he just made having a lean, sculpted body look accessible and normal as opposed to the overdeveloped freakish look.
Heck, I even dress the way Craig does when he's not filming. I'm particularly fond of the shirt, wasitcoat and jacket with blue jeans and brown shoes (loafers).

Well, not really from a movie, as such, but from the knowledge that a guy in his late 30s, namely Craig, could attain a very good level of fitness that would shame many blokes in their 20s. It's not about Wanting to Look Like James Bond™, so much as the realisation that, in the not too distant future, I won't be able to run around like I can today, and wanting to make the most of it.

I'm no spring chicken, but taking up (two years ago) - and sticking to - an exercise regime has been one of the most fun, rewarding and confidence-boosting things I've ever done. Now, I'm not a saint (I still smoke and far too much), and neither do I have a Craigian physique, but I still have a massive feeling of accomplishment (as well as a new addiction, for exercise can definitely be addictive!).

How has he influenced me? Well I always make sure to say Please and Thank you. To everyone. Not that I never said those wordsbefore, but it wasn't with everyone I dealt with. It's funny because I noticed that the staff at my gym reacted differently to me than to other patrons. And I think that it was due to the fact that I was one of the few people who told them those words after I dealt with them.

Since I saw Casino Royale I'm more serious and sophisticated ( B) ), sexy politeness like his "Thank You" and "Please", I keep my hair short and tidy as well as my clothing and manners, and I try to be as strong as Craig by going to the gym 2 hours, 5 times at week.

He's the man

Of course Pierce Brosnan's Bond helped!

I've often found myself smashing through drywall and jumping from crane to crane at construction sites.

Actually, I'm more motivated to learn another language; I'm brushing up on my French. And I'm more motivated to be a better writer. That's about it. Although that last one could be attributed to the movies themselves, not necessarily Craig's portrayal of Bond.

I say "Yes considerably" more often.

and

When asked the question "What time did you leave the office last night?"

I reply "I never left"

add to that the Omega Planet Ocean, the Tom Ford glasses, the Church Ryders, the Sunspel shirts and the Marks & Spencer (Tom Ford) black cardy, well if any more rubs off I'll be jetting off to Montinegro to play snap with the Chef.

Bloody right he has. I now wear blue trunks to the beach. I walk around as if I know where I'm going and as if I'm a black panther. I also say 'yes, considerably' more. I'm always training hard to build up my skinny upper body (to no avail) and I've dyed my hair blonde (just joking).

Do people here remember how Bond holds the door open for the Bahamian house maid at The Ocean Club?

Well, along with the 'please' and 'thank yous', I now do the same for ladies who have their hands full with coffee or hand bags or the like!

I hear this actor was auditioned twice for James Bond, but in first of the auditions George Lazenby won, and then in the later audtions Roger Moore won.

That looks to me like Jeremy Brett, who in 1984 became what many consider to be THE definitive Sherlock Holmes on British TV. Yes, he quite looks the part, but what he has to do with this thread I don't know.
