"Gangnam Style" was number 1 a couple of weeks ago, actually before "Skyfall" was released. The current-topper is Swedish House Mafia's "Don't You Worry Child". Not quite my cup of tea, either.

Okay, now I feel somewhat better, but still, most music today is horrendous.

I already liked Adele as she has an amazing voice. I have to say I was blown away with "Skyfall." I was expecting a decent song, but not that.

Well in the mid-week chart update, 'Skyfall' has dropped 4 places now to Number 6.

Over taken by Calvin Harris, PSY, Lawson and Rhianna.

Shame.

I think when the film is released and the song is released on cd, Skyfall should jump right back up the charts.

I hope so, in fact it must do after you've heard it again on screen. Still good going!

Not surprised, it debuted at number 8 in the US on the Hot 100 and promptly fell out of the top 10. I've only heard it on the radio once and don't expect much more. I just don't think the song is very good. The first half is great, but it falls apart at the start of the second chorus....damn those backup vocals.

Since the main part of the pop-music audience consists of teenagers, who are not into slow, traditionally arranged moody ballads without a rapper or a teen idol behind it, one must consider the charting of this song a huge success.

And now the depression settles in :(

Tastless buch of borderline little freaks, they are. And it´s not even their fault. It´s their bloody parents who messed up, afraid of confusing orientation with fascism. Left them to their own designs. They don´t even rebel anymore because there´s nothing to rebel against, only invisible landlords. Rant over. Summary: bad parenting=bad music taste ;)

Question for the moderator or whoever cobbled together that poll:

Why does the poll jump from "Definitely up there with the greats" to "Not too bad". Why nothing in between? Say, "okay to fairly good" or "agreeable but nothing great"?

For those who were on the edges of their seats waiting for this news, apparently Adele has given birth to a baby boy. Fingers crossed she and her partner will name it Raoul.

Doesn't "okay to fairly good" and "agreeable but nothing great" mean exactly the same thing as "not too bad?"

To play Devil's advocate, I'd say that the first two options on the poll are very similar in terms of strong praise for the song. I chose the second option as I felt it was a stronger, more accurate reflection of my views than the first. Not that it matters now though, of course. :)

I haven't actually gone on record without my thoughts about the song since it came out practically. In short, I think it's great for a Bond theme, and I thoroughly enjoy listening to it, and continue to do so on a daily basis. As with any song, there's never going to be a unanimous consensus reached - music is perhaps the most divisive of all art forms (I'm sure some people would like nothing better than a heavy metal Bond theme) - but I don't find much in the song to disappoint me. Some of the strings in the later part of the song are great, and I was hoping that they could be built into one of the score's action cues, but it appears not. Perhaps Adele could have thrown her voice more at the song, but I have no real complaints. Securing one of the world's leading artists is no mean feat in itself, and it's also given the film's publicity a bonus boost around the world.

As a disclaimer, Adele isn't exactly my sort of music, as I'm into alternative, synth and classic rock (The Killers, Muse, Bruce Springsteen) but as a piece of theme music for a James Bond movie, I think it ticks most of the necessary boxes.

Luckily I didn't have any issue voting in the poll. Can't stand the song, so I'm one of the 8 who chose the last option.

In my opinion the song is really let down by the fairly generic chorus and bridge. The intro is very promising but ultimately builds to nothing particularly memorable with the chorus. Also, why does Adele sound so restrained here? You know she's definitely capable of pulling out all the stops during the last minute or so of the song but she seems to be reigning herself in for some reason.

Has anyone noticed that all three songs from the Craig era thus far have sounded pretty much the same? Try slowing down the chorus melody to "You Know My Name" in your head and singing it over the chorus of Adele's song, or visa versa. Not much of a difference, really. The opening guitar riff from "Another Way To Die" sounds similar to the other two, as well.

I was curious as to this as well. I'm not a fan of Adele's music, but I know that she can belt out a tune much more forcefully than what "Skyfall" ultimately delivers.

Do we know when she actually recorded the song? I was thinking that perhaps it could have been something to do with her pregnancy?

She was spotted at Abbey Road in September, which led to suggestions that was when the recording was done. If so, she would have been heavily pregnant. I don't know whether that would have affected her ability or desire to go for big notes, but sure there's a chance.

They all got the same bass line too, outlining a minor triad. B>G>E in YKMN and AWTD and C-Ab-F in SF. The later just transposed up a semitone.

Was that intentional? Someone will have to ask Paul Epworth on Twitter.

Not at all. While I wouldn't have gone with any of those choices ... "not too bad" begs the question ... well, then just how bad is it?

They could have gone with "great" "good" and "poor" and learned more than the current poll .. and as someone rightly mentioned the difference between "I Love it" and "One of the greats" is too minor to discuss ... matter of fact, I'd suggest "one of the greats" sounds higher on the pecking order, if anything.

After many days of listening to it, I can safely say it's a good song but really nothing to write home about. It's not as enjoyable to me as Licence to Kill, The Living Daylights, For Your Eyes Only, Nobody Does it Better, Live and Let Die or even The World is not Enough, which are all so unique. This one is sort of... good.. but not OMG best song eva! or anything. The aforementioned songs I could not stop listening to when I first discovered them.
