Quantum Of Solace didn't really do much for me, so my opinion of Craig hasn't changed from Casino Royale.

1)"Approve, if not the best James Bond."
I like Craig but Connery is still the best.
and
2)"My opinion of him has stayed the same.", even though I find QOS as a film inferior to CR, Craig was about equally excellent in the role both times. Slightly more on CR possibly since he something to prove.

Sean Connery was so feral, and his movies were in the height of the Cold War when such people were needed. But he lacked the complexity of the character in the book.
Timothy Dalton played a James Bond that didn't just play with glamorous items, he seemed to be inherently glamorous himself. Although Bond's background hadn't been filled in, you got the impression he was a privileged sort, hardened by experience, but still with a complex personality, sometimes at odds with itself.

I'll agree with the Major: he's doing alright, but certainly not the best.

I like Craig, but they are wasting him. Until he gets a more mature character like Dalton's to play (as you've described), he won't rise above 3rd or 4th place. But he's easily the best thing about the 2 he's done so far. It's likely my opinion of his version of Bond will either soar or plummet, depending on the next film.Timothy Dalton played a James Bond that didn't just play with glamorous items, he seemed to be inherently glamorous himself. Do you even know what a blue collar is?T-1000 with a blue collar.
I'm assuming you mean "white collar"; blue collar just makes me think of Larry the Cable Guy.

Cloudn't agree more.Craig's next Bond performance can be quite fine as long as they cut down on the Sonic jumping, the moody revenge crap, and the disdain for authority (my solution to that problem is to make M a minor character once more, cut the mothering crap...actually, cut the mother in general and bring in a male M).

I can see Graig, doing a superb re-make of any of the Fleming adaptations.

You should have included,
1. Good, but not my favorite Bond.
2. Meh, he's somewhere down my list.

I think Craig has delivered one amazing movie (CR) and one perfectly watchable film (QoS). In doing so he has matched Brosnan who has the done the same within his four films. Craig still has a way to go before he matches the consistency of Connery. What will happen I don't know but I do know as long as his scripts are good Craig has at least two more Bond films in him before he will be a bit to old for the films.
Well, IMHO, Craig far outshines Broz in his two then Broz did in his four. CR and QOS are both in my top three Bond films. TSWLM still sits at #1 (weird, I know). I also don't know if I'd say that Craig has a way to go before he matches Connery's consistency, since, IMHO, Connery started to seriously drift in the roll after his third outing as Bond. However much I like DN and FRWL and GF, I still prefer CR and QOS. I hope Craig's around for 2 to 3 more!

I think Craig outshines Broz's four films in Casino Royale alone. I know that sounds like a diss to Brosnan but it is not, I enjoyed Brosnan as Bond. Craig and Casino Royale however rival FRWL as my favorite Bond movie.

This is just like I avoided Roger Moore after Moonraker, and Pierce Brosnan after Tomorrow Never Dies.

One thing that didn't change for me was the force of nature that is Daniel Craig. He takes everything that I loved about Connery (the rugged, tough, truck-driver type looks combined with a nuclear power plant of sex appeal and the best style of the franchise as well as the way he just...tosses things; has anyone ever noticed this? It's awesome), and Lazenby (the vulnerable human who is still tough as nails). He's doing a similar thing to Dalton, but I don't think he borrows any of his traits as directly as he seems to from the other two. I feel the same way about any similarities he may share with Brosnan and Moore.
Honestly, I still don't really consider him to be Fleming's Bond. I don't picture Craig's blond hair in Live and Let Die as he is having his finger broken by Mr Big and I don't picture him blazing through a packet of specially made three-ring cigarettes from Morlands of Grosvenor Street. But then again, I don't think he should be those things. Craig's Bond is supposed to be a farewell to arms. An acceptance that the hero Fleming wrote about cannot and should not exist in a world where the Cold War is long over and newer, greyer threats effect the world on a daily basis. Craig's Bond is the first real attempt at truly bringing Fleming's character (rather than just the Eon Superhero) into the modern day. And what a grand attempt it has been thus far.
Craig is a confident successful actor in his own right outside of this wonderful franchise and hopefully this unfortunate respite gives him the drive and the energy to tackle the role at least one more time in what's sure to be another epic outing for the world's greatest secret agent.
