About a fortnight ago, our fortune tellers at Zorin Industries HQ predicted this rumour would do the rounds as soon as Danny Boyle won the Oscar and said he wasn't allegedly interested in directing a Bond film....

"Welcome to the Hotel Rumour, Mr Bond. Your new piece of PR spin has been unpacked and is waiting in your room for you...."

True.

Though people would have said that about Olga Kurylenko two years ago.

She isn't pretty enough.

Actually, she isn't pretty. Period.

Let's stick to European girls. Please.

Interesting comments in that article from "A Source":

A source tells the publication, "Freida came to the attention of the Bond team when they were casting Quantum Of Solace. She was too young at the time to play a love interest for a secret agent. But she is ready now.

Isn't she about the same age as Gemma thingy?

Actually, she isn't pretty. Period.

Well, each to their own - personally I think she's gorgeous.

I think next time around they really ought to go for someone who isnt a broody brunette euro girl.

I am not convinced by that at all. Pinto had not acted in anything before SLUMDOG. I find it hard to believe that someone with zero acting experience was ever looked at by the Bond producers.

Pinto is actually older, so that makes no sense either!

I know this is controversial but I suspect "A Source" might be "A Journalist Making Things Up".

Eon won't hire Tabloid fodder.

Why don't people understand that?

Eon has moved on since the Brosnan era. Thankfully. Mercifully.

That would certainly be the logical assumption, yes. B)

I expect this could be among the top stories of The Sun tomorrow...

Vauxhall, they had filmed Slumdog by the time QOS started filming, she could very much had been on the prods radar last film along.

She is beautiful but I'm not sure about her acting abilities. It would be nice to go for a non-European this time around.

Well, they started filming SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE in November 2007, when casting for QUANTUM OF SOLACE was more or less being completed. I maintain that the casting directors for Bond wouldn't have been able to see any genuine acting footage of Pinto before they put together their cast.

The same can be said aout Arterton. Her first film didn't come out till Christmas 2007.

Yes, but as a graduate of RADA she is in a much stronger position for getting on the radar of casting directors. Plus she had appeared on the stage in London prior to getting involved in movies.

Pinto was a model prior to Slumdog, she was on the radar.

I think we're going to have to agree to disagree. Being a model does not necessarily place one on the casting radar for big-budget action movies.

A few other men, certain ladies and adolescent boys would think otherwise. And I do too.

And I doubt very much we would get a European Bond girl next time round. Assuming Ms Kurylenko is not asked back (which I feel could be a series first - as this seems to be the era for that).

Vauxhall, they had filmed Slumdog by the time QOS started filming, she could very much had been on the prods radar last film along.

SOLACE was still lensing in June 2008. Pinewood was still very full of BOND 22 at that time.

Also, actors get on casting directors radars long before they do the general public.

The same can be said aout Arterton. Her first film didn't come out till Christmas 2007.

RADA has nothing to do with radar. It gives you a cache still (maybe) but it's not the meal ticket it used to be.

Pinto was a model prior to Slumdog, she was on the radar.

I think we're going to have to agree to disagree. Being a model does not necessarily place one on the casting radar for big-budget action movies.

Not all casting directors perhaps, but enough worth their salt keep an eye on the models. The casting office at Eon House for starters...

This is total BS but this for me cements 2 things one a 2010 release and 2 the first draft of bond 23 is done. I have watched the bond rumours for Casino Royale and Quantum of solace and director/cast rumours pop up post the first draft being done.

No, if the film was being release for 2010, MGM would have yelled it from the rooftops by now. We would have a date firmly set in stone. We don't, it' a little on the late side to start fuelling up a Nov 2010 slot as the dates are likely to have been plucked already. 2011 is the best bet sadly, we can just hope it's in Summer.
Anyway....the Pinto rumors were inevitable, it's not true. The producers don't even have a director, s why would they begin casting. Surely he's the guy who makes the final descion. It was that way with Forster.

Now now, how dare this Pinto person cut in line before the professional rumour-mongerers have started. We know that Bond rumour season doesn't officially begin until :

a. Gulshan Grover announces that he is playing the villain
b. The Sun quotes an "insider" as saying Sean Connery will be playing M or Bond's dad.

Let the games begin!

Somebody in Bollywood, Sony or Eon REALLY has their heart set on an Indian actress for a Bond girl.

Rumours like this have been going on both on CR and QoS with the touting of similar actresses.

So, I'll mark it up as rubbish or bold PR at this point.

Then again, you never can tell. I guess it just depends on what Bond 23 shapes up to be. If there is any credence to this, then I'd agree with some of the above that if not a first draft, a solid outline/foundation for the next film is in place.

She is quite pretty, but I have yet to see her work. Now, the next issue, is she to be evil, good or just a "passing fancy" towards 007.

I don't agree with the first two lines, although that's simply a matter of opinion.

I do however wonder about the point regarding the third line. Only European actresses? Why?

Probably a question of economics. The Bond films are popular in India, but the addition of an Indian actress would help boost them to a new level. Who wouldn't want to crack a market with 1 Billion plus people?

Really, it's like English Premiership sides going on pre season tours to Asia - it helps to build the brand a sell a few more replica shirts.

As for Frieda, she'd make an excellent Bond girl - far better than some of the names which been banded about in the past.

The media is absolutely full of it here - third story on Times Now news as we speak.

Let's stick to European girls. Please.

Why???
C'mon Hildy you just can't just drop an assertion like that without qualifying it!
Personally I don't want to see another European girl for the next couple of Bonds... as much as I <3 Olga K and Caterina M B)
Freida P is quite beautiful, like all Indian actresses, I might add!
I would be more than pleased if she was in B23.
(If while we're talking about Indian actresses Aishwarya Rai would of course be the most glamourous and sophisticated choice for a Bond role- although she may seem to tower over plucky Dan!)

The same can be said aout Arterton. Her first film didn't come out till Christmas 2007.

Pfft
Didn't see much of Arterton's RADA 'skills' on display in QoS - her part could have been played by damn near anyone - although she did do a good job lying still when she was covered in oil, I'll give her that.
Fuzzy logic on the "radar of casting directors" - umm when has Eon ever been restricted by a criteria like that? Freida P. is on the radar - believe me - she has a genuinely global profile. Couldn't say the same for Arterton...
