Not bad, but it sounds like someone was trying to write a standard-issue Bond theme song. There's no originality to it whatsoever. The chorus is rather weak - sounds a little like "Surrender" from TOMORROW NEVER DIES, but not as good.

It's easy to see why "Another Way to Die" was chosen over this (if indeed this song was ever actually in the running). For one thing, AWTD is a lot more original.

As our very own Zorin might say, this song sounds like a fan's (dirty word, fan) idea of what a Bond song should be like and not Eon's.

I don't believe for a moment EON ever considered this. We don't even know who made it, and when was the last time a complete unknown sung a Bond song? I think it's a well-produced but completely forgettable and predictable fan-made song.

I agree. Almost every other line of the song is taken directly from CASINO ROYALE: "I have no armour left", "No soul left to salvage" and "Whatever I am, I'm yours" to name a few. While a lot of people hate it, I think Another Way to Die works really well because it captures the essence of the film: it's a little erratic, it's dirty in places, and the lyrics go beyond the usual theme of being written from the point-of-view of a Bond Girl and start exploring the concept of Bond's world and the underlying theme of him having to rely solely on himself.

This, on the other hand, is simply trying very hard to be a repeat of Dame Shirley's Bond themes. It's kind of like Clive Owen's latest string of films, where he's quite clearly trying to be Daniel Craig. The song just regurgitates dialogue from the previous film, and while it doesn't help that it doesn't match the on-screen images, it doesn't really offer anything but a throwback to the days of old, hoping to capitalise on their success.

That said, I think this was actually performed by someone as opposed to being plucked off the internet or recorded in a bedroom. It's got a prety high production quality, and the lyrics suggest it was written with QUANTUM OF SOLACE in mind. It may have been a genuine entry, but as was stated, it's pretty obvious that this song was probably dismissed straight away.

Sort of OK, and also kind of rubbish for all the reasons mentioned above.

Nice little tune. I was surprised that someone actually put "Quantum of Solace" into that actual song! Personally, though, I'd stick with my Another Way to Die. As much as some people hate it, and believe me, I HATED the song when I first heard it, the song's really grown on me.

Quite. "Another Way to Die" does, at least, attempt to be about something. It tries to match a particular film.

This, however, is a fannish Bassey wannabe that might as well have been written for any of the Brosnan flicks. It really is quite desperately unoriginal.

Okay production values, but it sounds very computer-based and needs to have decent verses as well as a powerhouse of a chorus. At the moment it's all chorus and tonally has no relationship with the film. It's familiar vampy rather than QUANTUM OF SOLACE's dirty funk of an agenda.

This posting as well as the song and its accompanying get my coveted "Seal of Approval for BullS.". This is a fan song, like all the other amateurish "unused themes" that pop up. Do not be fooled, you've been warned. Spread the word before it gets out of hand.

Thanks The Cat :(
I really thought this was the undiscovered, unused, proper theme song for THE QUANTUM OF THE SOLACE-aaah.

After all, it sounds exactly like a Bond song with Burly Chassis singing, brass stabs, dangerous stranger lyrics, premiering on You Tube, anonymous artist and conveniently written for the title sequence. Oh, and it's much much more fannish than the eventual song written which was, let's face it, far too original and contemporary to be Bond!

It's not terrible for a fan song, but it's not film-worthy either. It's got some catchy stuff going on, but the melody is under-mixed (if there is one, in spots) and there's not much iconic about it.

Although it's far more musically cohesive than AWTD.

Have to say I prefer the version by White/Keys, 'blinger with the slick trigger finger' and all.

Very high quality for a demo.

A million times better than AWTD, but that doesn't say much.

It's not even that aware of itself. It just thinks a Bassey clone and a bit of bombast makes a superior Bond tune.

Let's leave it to the filmmakers to source the 007 music providers.

I've got two words for the creators of this - creme brulee.....(one for THE LEAGUE OF GENTLEMAN fans amongst our fraternity).

"Maverick.."

"Goose, it's Cougar"

"Merlin, what's up?"

etc.

Actually, it's very "world pop" ish, like the 1988 Seoul olympics music meets the theme tune from Mysterious Cities of Gold via Shakira.

AWTD is still a very poor song though (in my opinion), although I think it's intentions were splendid.

It's odd. Reminds me a bit of Lulu's 'The Man with the Golden Gun', but with this weird early 1980s disco twist.
