I must say that this is a brilliant idea and you can count me in. London is a perfect venue.
I was thinking back to what someone said (I think it was Xen) about calling the event after one of Ian Fleming's war time operations. Didn't Fleming control a group of Commandoes know as his "Red Indians"?
What about calling ourselves that? Just a thought...

Man, I'm gonna be a big traveler for someone my age. Most of this week, I've been travelling back and forth between Chicago and St. Louis, going to the latter tomorrow night. Last year, I was in France for three weeks, and now in two years in London (hopefully). People I know have gone their whole life and have never been over any ocean. I feel very lucky to be able to travel often, even if it does mean hours of driving. :)

Walther, you are definately one of the lucky ones. I often say that I learned more from my experiences whilst traveling than I did while I was in school.

Anyone at any age, has to travel. It's the best thing anyone can do IMHO.

Did Fleming have any other names Scarmanga? I'm worried Red Indians may seem a little too far from Bond. He organised quite a few operations. What was the name of the one with the dead British officer on the shore of Spain?

Hopefully we'll get a lot of both sexes to come, so please advertise away :)

We're not 100% of all the events times etc... but we're going to try and make sure that each event is open to the largest amount of people that is possible.

We're also going to try and keep the costs right down to urge the biggest amount of people to come.

It's going to take looking at hotels in the area and getting best prices there, getting best cinema prices etc... But I think we can do it :)

I was just thinking about what it's gonna be like when I go. I've always wanted to visit England. I just can't get this out of my head... It's gonna be huge, I love it!!!! :)

1. Useful if you could ensure wheelchair access

2. Names for the event? "Names is for Tombstones, Baby" would be my suggestion.

3. Remember those copyright warnings on the front of videos/DVDs? Same applies to screenings of prints. You may have to negotiate a licence to show.

4. Show Licence to Kill and I start misbehaving

Cool choice of name, Jim!

But I must protest: unless one of the days is entirely dedicated to LICENCE TO KILL, I probably won't show....

I too just came accross this thread Jimmy. Count me in! As long as it's enough notice i could definately make it. We'd have to have a caterer, a huge meeting place, a large screen and digital projector, and definately an open bar that served martinis all night :) . This sounds like a great idea!!!

You attendance at this event is predicated on your misbehaviour...as in you must be your usual "Jim" self to get in.

Licence to Kill could be shown, but not as the only film. And I'm disappointed to think that someone would be upset at the idea of it being shown and others not etc...

As for wheelchair access, Jim I'll bare it completely in mind. I'll make sure the hotel and other major venues do. Can I ask, how would the walking tour fare for you? Any problems getting around a city?

Blue Eyes, I was only joking about not wanting to turn up unless we had a LICENCE TO KILL day.

Not the funniest joke in the world, but a joke nonetheless. I'm VERY surprised you couldn't tell it was a joke (well, I guess humour can sometimes be hard to read in posts from Tom Dick and Harry on a public forum). I certainly wasn't trying to "flame" anyone, and I definitely wasn't trying to lay down the law.

It was only because Jim has a well-known aversion to LTK, and isn't shy about saying so. As for me, it's one of my favourite Bond films, and I enjoy playing up my liking for it, especially when Jim's around. It's all in fun.

But how sad would it be if I was THAT obsessed with LTK that I insisted it had to completely dominate proceedings? How silly would I be if I genuinely got upset about others not liking it?

I apologise if anyone was offended (or, er, spooked) by my post back there, but having read and enjoyed Jim's posts over the past few months I very much doubt that he was....

Yeah that's cool. I had considered that you made a joke, but just the whole nature of plain text is that it sometimes lacks emotions :) No harm done at all :)

i am completely up for this thing cause it sounds like an amazing chance however it should be a 7 day thing, one day for each actor (with a film of theirs in the evening), a day to the novels and a last day dedicated to the whole cinematic aspect :)

Great idea! And nice to see it really being developed finally. I liked the idea when Dr. Tynan suggested it and I like it now. Good luck Bryce, BE, Jordan.

Forget what i said about a 7 day thing, when i thought about it it is too long. But, the litery and cinematic days are still sounding good and perhaps you could have a memorabilia auction one lunchtime, i'm seriously lacking in memorabilia!
p.s there is a James Bond exibition in the science museum in London this week, i'd recommend going if you can.

Dan and I have discussed the length of the event on several occasions. I think he and I are in agreement that we don't want to go over five days simply because we want everyone to leave asking for more. There is also only so much you can do in one city... even if it is London.

Yup, and if you cover it all, then you can't return there at a later date for a similair event. Even though the later date will bring about new opportunites you want to try and avoid recyclying ideas.
