I know it was glorious! The best decision Forster (I'm assuming it was his idea) made. The P99 is HIDEOUS! WAS hideous, I should say. Please, EON, keep the gun!

Well I kinda like the P99. But the PPK is iconic and I wouldn't mind it sticking around for more action.

Ditto. While I'm not one who thinks the P99 is ugly, the PPK is definitely much prettier. From a practical standpoint it may not be the best choice, but for Bond, it fits.

VERY happy to see the PPK back. Never liked that P99. I think Eon learned the PPK is one of those things you can't change. Bravo.

When are they going to get rid of the PPK? I'm beginning to hate that gun.

PPK? P99? Whatever. Bond would still look cool even if he was using a blunt stick!

Why is Bond using his P99 in CR and now he's using a PPK? Man, that makes no sense. Ok, the PPK fits much better into the last scene than a modern P99.

Maybe he was using the PPK during the Siena sequences because it was the only gun that was close at hand ...

I liked the fact that 007 used both the older and current Walthers in QoS. I hope he continues to use the classic PPK when the situation calls for it.

I was a bit surprised how much Bond used the PPK. I figured that the P99 would show-up at some point. Nevertheless, the PPK works just fine for me. :(

Good to see the PPK back. I always thought the P99 was kind of like Dirty Harry's Magnum, just too awkward and big to lug around.

And, this is not a bash, I associate the P99, despite it being in CR, as being from the Brosnan era. The PPK has been a constant for all the others, so that fits.

I prefer the P99 to the PPK. P99 looks cooler and the PPK to me just looks like a wimpy gun.

I agree with everything you said except that the PPK is like an icon of James Bond so it pretty much has to be in the movie.

Haven't posted in ages, but saw QoS last night.

Yes indeed! The PPK is back and the preferred sidearm of Bond. For years I railed on Bond using the old and underpowered PPK. I rejoiced when Brosnan got the P99. I was glad when Craig used it on CR.

But a funny thing happened when I watched QoS. For some inconceivable reason, the PPK just seems to...fit Daniel Craig. The PPK profile is unmistakable, and the reality of the PPK as a questionable defensive weapon just melts away. The final scenes with Bond pointing the PPK is very satisfying. In my mind, I just explain it away, saying Q-Branch has developed effective 7.65mm or .380 ACP rounds that allow Bond to fire one-shot kills with the PPK.

I will enjoy further Bond films with him using the PPK.

With DC playing Bond, the man makes the gun, and not the other way around. :(

I do prefer the PPK.

It was nice to see the "iconic pistol of 007" back with an "iconic 007".

*thinks*

I might just have to get myself down to the range today.

My own PPK is chambered in .380 and I prefer the Winchester Silvertips, but do keep a clip of Glasers around for any "heavy" work. :(

He also used the PPK in Casino Royale, during the opening bathroom fight in the PTS.

Which, I think, is the way it should be. Why can't it show Bond carrying both? Give him the PPK for when it's less practical for him to have a larger gun (the Siena scenes make sense since he might've only had that on him at the time, and it was easier to conceal so he'd have it at the end), but for more 'heavy-duty' operations (the final fight with Green, for example) give him the P-99 back. I happen to like them both just fine, thank you.

Totally agree. It just seemed to fit his hand better. He looked like he was born brandishing it! (No pun intended - "born" - "bourne" :( )

I have a couple of questions... Did Bond also use the PPK to kill Dryden or only in the bathroom's killing?? Is there any other scene in CR where Bond use the PPK??

Really? You sure? I could have sworn that was the P99 they were throwing around.
