Just came back from my first viewing of Quantum of Solace and I just don't see what all the fuss is about?

Quantum of Solace is NOT a 'major dissapointment' and it is NOT an Action fest!

I cannot be bothered to right a review at the moment, so I'm just gonna write up some things that I liked...

[box]

1. Quantum of Solace is not an Action fest, not one bit. Yeah sure there is action scenes, but it is NOT one after another like previously reported.

2. The 'shakey cam' is not as bad as some people have been saying, I could tell what was going on, as could many people in the cinema. It's only really used in the car chase and the siena chase.

3. The dialogue scenes are brilliant. and there is a fair few.

4. The cinematography is utterly breathtaking.

5. For the first time in a Bond film, I was actually close to tears. Anyone who says that Craig doesn't do vulnerable and emotional in this movie is talking rubbish. Bond and Mathis' final scene is heartbreaking. Bond was on the verge of tears, he was holding Mathis in his arms in the middle of the road. Craig and Giannani were brilliant in that scene, absoloutly magnificent. Also, when he finds Fields. God, that guy can do angry! Posted Image

6. Greene had limited screentime, which I actually agree with. 'Quantum' is supposed to be a shadowy organisation, so it kinda makes sense.

7. The plot is NOT confusing at all. I don't know where this has came from in the reviews, I surely understood it, so did my friend, who hadn't even seen Casino Royale, but heard about it.

If anyone has any questions, I'll be happy to answer them.

For my quick two pennies worth, as I haven't had chance to write a full review as yet, I loved the film too. Negativity, what negativity!

Craig and Giannani were brilliant in that scene, absoloutly magnificent.

Bond: (Holding Mathis) Is Mathis a codename?
Mathis: Yes.
Bond: It's not a very good one is it?

Mathis: James, don't leave me, please don't leave me. Stay with me, please.

It was so emotional, and right at the end Bond forgives Mathis, and he passes away in his arms.

The other scene was shows Craigs' brilliant acting ability is when he finds Fields. God, that guy can do angry! :)

6. Greene had limited screentime, which I actually agree with. 'Quantum' is supposed to be a shadowy organisation, so it kinda makes sense.

10/10 :(

whereas I gave the film 9/10 because of the theme song, I agree with you 100%. The film is complex, deep and very entertaining but very easy to understand. The business with yusuf was also great too and added an extra layer of depth to Vesper's character. QoS is an instant Bond classic and now sits firmly as the 3rd best Bond film in my book.

God, the film in immense. Judging by the reviews, I think this will probably be the most underrated Bond film of the entire series.

What kind of music did you hear at the party:

Did they use a buddha-bar like song when camille is going up to the upper floor?

On another scene, could you see faces of the guests dancing to electronic music?

As it stands, I think QoS is underrated despite all the positive reviews But not the most underrated. That title is held by the magnificent OHMSS imo. Most of the negatives regarding QoS appear to be fabricated lies, not getting over the cliched formula or simply due to a lack of understanding. QoS is by far the most profound of all the Bond movies thus far and after seeing the movie 4 times now,I find it disturbingly interesting how some people can say the negative things they've said about this movie. No humour? Balls to walls action? Sloppy and incomprehendable script script? Not so at all.

Yes!!! this is making me extremely anxious :(

TY ! :)

btw, that was shot on the 21st (after midnight? I can't recall, but it was late)...I was so tired back then, that I came so close to skipping that scene, even after they picked very few of us....can't wait to see it on the big screen, and hopefully me in it!

Ok something that i don't believe is answered do we get a sense as to who the head of Quantum is? Or where Greene is in the tiers?

how was the last scene in moscow?

What did the gunbarrel look like?

How was the Fracnhises second Pajour Scene (the runing though siena) is it as good as the construction scene in Casino? Was it better?

Bond interrogates Greene off screen, so we have no idea on who the head of Quantum actually is. I think Greene is just a pawn, personally.

how was the last scene in moscow?

It was amazing, Craig was brilliant. I don't know what I liked best, the Yussef confrontation, or the last scene with M... both were fantastic.

What did the gunbarrel look like?

The gunbarrel was OK. Craig walk was very fast and his stance was very cool. The only problem I have with the gunbarrel is that you couldn't really see it that well. It was too zoomed in. It's a completely new design aswell. It didn't look at all like Binders or Kleimans work.

I always felt that the construction scene in Casino Royale dragged. Quantum of Solace' was better, due to the fact that it was short and snappy. I think I loved the Siena chase more because more innocent lives were at stake, I love it when Bond is in a situation involving normal people, it adds to the danger.

Agreed.

"meh meh meh theres no humour" really annoyed me, the lines of M, Bond and Agent Fields were very funny.
The action was brutal but wonderful. The superb scene at the end in Russia finished the 'story' of CR and QOS very well, and the Gunbarrel scene means that Daniel Craig's era of James Bond being James Bond as we knew can start.

We are teachers on a sabbatical and we have won the lottery made me lol.

Ha! I thought the humour was brilliant.

"We're teachers on sabatical... and we've just won the lottery!" was CLASSIC! :)

I also loved M's random mood swings...

"I've known him for eight years! He's been my bodyguard for 5. Look (Picks up Ash tray) I bought him that for christmas... he doesn't even smoke! "SMASH"

:) :(

Just returned from my 4th viewing and visually, musically and emotionally it gets richer each time. One question though - why does Bond ask if Mathis is a codename and conclude that it's not a very good one? Feel like I'm being thick.

Quite simple really, he was just making small talk. He was trying to hide the fact that he was upset. You see it in movies all of the time, if someone is upset and is holding a dying person, they try and talk to the victim like there's nothing wrong. Bond didn't mean anything bad by it, he was just trying to trick himself into thinking that everything will be ok.
