Going to have to disagree with you on that one. That thing is gorgeous. The car, not Nicki.

Much like the Mondeo that Bond drove in Casino Royale....

Exactly. Or the Ford Edges used in "QOS".

I should point out that I don't think we'd see 007 himself driving this car, but it would look good in a Bond film.

Whatever Bond Drives, it MUST be British.

Why? I wasn't aware only the British make stylish, well performing cars or that people must drive cars from their own countries. Fail. If something like that bothers you, you need to learn to let things go..

I don't think I'm alone when convey my dissapointment at the Brosnan era vehicles. Really, BMW 750? Is there anything more bland than a mid-sized sedan? Why not get him a BMW Z5 soccer mom minivan?

Are you serious? Dalton drove a WAGON (that's about as lame as Bond's cars have got) for crying out loud in LTK and Craig drove a Ford Edge CROSSOVER in one scene in QoS. Crossovers, SUVs, and especially wagons are just as popular among "soccer moms" as mini-vans. BMW has never made a mini-van either.

The cars in the films don't define Bond. If there is a chase scene a nice car is appreciated (I'm a car nut), but the car Bond drives in a particular film isn't going to in any way change what I think about that Bond or that film.

BMW was the perfect brand for the Brosnan era. To many people (whether you do or not) the brand represents class and style. It's no Aston Martin that's for sure, but it was the perfect brand for Brosnan's "playboy" 1990s era Bond. The Vanquish was nice a change in DAD though only because of the classic Bond-Aston Martin connection.

It has to be a British automobile because that personifies who 007 is. It's like saying he doesn't need to drink Martinis to be James Bond; why not just give him Jack Daniels? It JUST DOESN'T WORK.
We can forgive him the cars he uses in the field such as; the Lincoln Continental in TB; the Ford Mach 1 in DAF; even the Ford LTD in AVTAK. But to have as his personal vehicle, something made ouside of the UK is just well... un-English.
That being said, I feel that the 90's choice for automobiles is the 1 true disappointment of the Brosnan era. (Screen time for BMW sequences in both GE & TWINE were nearly non-existant). They could've put him behind the wheel of a Bentley, even a Jag. But something definately BRITISH!

Perhaps the 2012 Lotus Exige would be a good choice. Lotus are currently trying to style themselves as England's answer to Porsche (though their ongoing court case against Tony Fernandes is currently making that nigh on impossible), and I kind of like the Exige.

Heavens no.....Bond is about precision driving, not drag racing in the South (USA). Wouldn't mind in an Audi R9 or a Maserati Gran Sport.

The Coupe Gran Sport is a bit old. It was discontinued in 2007. If Bond were to drive a Maserati, then it should be the Gran Turismo or the Qurattoporte:

I like the Stradale. It's the 2011 version of the Gran Turismo.

Of course if I recall correctly, in Fleming's books, Bond drank Bourbon (not that Jack is technically Bourbon) more frequently than Martinis.

There is only one car for Bond and that has to be the Astin Martin, but that failing, there is only one other contender and of course it is the BUGGATTI VEYRON.

I love the Veyron, but how can you plausibly explain how and why Bond would get one? And Bond is likely to crash/ dent, and I don't know if my heart could bare seeing a Veyron totalled...

Going by your logic of the British made car, how would you feel about the Mark Noble M600, or whatever the newest version of the car will be called?

Well of course this would a bloody awfull choice! My suggestion is nearly 3 years old and I have to say I've grown up in terms of taste in cars.
For today's Bond I'd suggest the Zagato or the new Jag XF. Much better cars than the transformer.

And as for the R9 I think it's a bit too flashy. Great car nontheless!

In white, for the villain in B23  And a red flaming gorgeous alfa romeo 4c for the Bond woman. As for Bond, stay with the aston

Was that the car designed in conjunction with WilliamsF1? I know they worked on the C-X15 concept car. I wouldn't go touching anything developed by Williams right now - the cars might look nice, but they're utterly dismal at the moment.

Look at that rear view.

And it has a turbo boost button on the steering wheel! :) (Or maybe KERS).

Was going to post a DB5 picture and defend that it was still the best looking car on the thread and that Bond already owns one. But hey, just realised I need a fix of fresh news, not a +1 post about something which is already a given. :)

I've long thought that the glitz and the glamour of Formula 1 would be a perfect fit for Bond. Even if it was just something as simple as shadowing the villain - or the villain's associate - at a party during the Monaco Grand Prix (though IRON MAN 2 did this) since it would be impossible to reasonably have Bond drive a modern Formula 1 car; it takes years to get to the point where someone can drive it properly. But a thought did occur to me: what about a GOLDFINGER-style match-up between Bond and the villain? Occasionally, there are show events for classic cars, so I could see Bond and the villain getting into cars from the late 1960s and racing one another.

I'd put Bond in the Lotus 49C, one of the finest examples of British racing engineering:

Posted Image

And the villain would be in a Ferrari 312B:

Posted Image

And, of course, they would need a suitable arena - like the Nurburgring Nordschleife, the "Green Hell":

This is what it looked like in cars like the 49C and 312B:

Bond in a lotus F1 :cooltongue: cool...that´s it, simply cool. And a good homage to Senna

I love F1 and yes, the glamour that the automotive world has (or once had) would suit Bond very well. Reminds of an episode from the second season of Archer :D (in a good way of course).

Even if Bond didn´t drove an F1 car, it would be awesome if the filming took place during the grand prix, much like the palio race.

So here´s a  from me.

'Grand Prix enthusiasts may be worried by the amount of time it has taken me to get into this Lotus Formula Three. What they don't realize is, although Le Chiffre thinks he has a faster car than me, I am faster in my Lotus Formula Three. Hee Hee! '

Heh; seriously though; I have wondered why they've never done a Bond-meeting-the-villain-socially thing at a Formula 1 race. When you get inside the hospitality bits inside the circuit it's very Bond.

Oh yeah; that was brilliant:
'This is going to be really hard to drive... with this enormous erection!'

(As Archer sits on the bonnet of the baddie's car)
BADDIE- Get off!
ARCHER- That's right; I am totally getting off on this!

The reason is a short elf that answers to 'Bernie'. Think Joe Stalin if he was four feet high. He's impossible to deal with. That's why I suggested Bond and the villain racing one another in classic cars. After all, Ernst Hemingway once said "there are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely game", which would be perfect segue for the villain to convince Bond to race him and the second-best way to show he is educated (the best being to say "And when Alexander saw the breadth of his domain, he wept, for there were no more worlds to conquer. Hans Gruber, Die Hard.", but Alec Baldwin already did that in 30 ROCK).

I think unless you know that Eon have approached him it's a bit of a misnomer to suggest that. I know Stallone had trouble, but it would hardly have to be as indepth as he wanted to use F1. It's not as if they'd have to shoot there that much; like the horse race in Quantum.

Well, Bernie was afraid Sly would mis-represent the sport. And, having seen DRIVEL, those fears were not unfounded. I think IRON MAN 2 tried it as well, but I've heard all the cars were modified with CGI in post-production to not be Formula 1 cars.

I just think having Bond and the villain race in a GOLDFINGER-style showdown with 1960s racing cars would be a lot more exciting.

I've been wondering: if Q came back, what kinds of gadgets could the Bond car include this time around? So, I've come up with some ideas:

1) A 'heat stealth' device. The car is equipped with a set of pipes that pump liquid nitrogen through the engine bay, lowering the termperature of the car and making it harder to detect with thermal imaging. The system would automatically start when the engine is turned on. It also serves as an immobilisation device - if the car is stolen, Bond can remotely trigger a device (he may improvise it) within the syetm that ruptures the pipes, spraying liquid nitrogen through the engine bay and quite literally freezing the engine.

2) A mobile prison. A lot of high-end safes and vaults come with a security feature where, if the door is breached, reinforced deadbolts lock into place between the door and the frame, making it impossible to open the door. Bond's car could use a similar system, where deadbolts concealed in the doors are locked in place into the body of the car, making escape impossible. The car is disabled when the system is activated, turning the car into a temporary prison.

3) An 'upgraded' satellite navigation system. Rather than connecting to a GPS satellite, Bond's car can directly access a local spy satellite for surveillance. Similarly, the car is equipped with front and rear 'parking assist' cameras that are actually high-definition cameras connected to MI6 in real time for surveillance purposes. The car can be parked with the cameras rolling and the connection maintained, allowing constant remote surveillance.

4) The car comes with full electronic countermeasures: radar jamming, radio blocking, and even mobile phone coverage. It can also launch a chaff cloud, a large cloud made up of superfine metallic particles designed to confuse missiles that are targeting the car.

5) Finally, as a self-destruct system, the car can be turned into a missile. A device in the front of the car can tag a target with a laser designation, before a booster rocket - similar to the one in THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS - fires, with the car responding to the laser tag to hone in on it. When within range, explosives packed into the car are detonated. Naturally, the system has its limitations; it can only go in a straight line, and only over even terrain.

So, any other ideas for gadgets to be included in the car?
