How about Dominic West ? If Craig does leave in 2012, he'll be 42 or 43. Though I usually like an actor between 35-40, that isn't too old.

Posted Image

I love him in The Wire - and I was suprised to find he was not only English but an old Etonian. Not sure if he's got the intensity Bond needs. He seems to have a semi-permanent smirk on his face which is more cheeky sailor than debonair killer.

Definetly looks Bondian though - well, apart from the smirk.

Recently read an interview with him where he jokes about having been 32nd on the list for CR. He also admits that - whilst he'd have liked to've taken Bond in a grittier direction - Craig did it a lot better than he could've.

I seem to recall that West auditioned for Bond in CASINO ROYALE, and did so in T-shirt and jeans in a bid to make himself stand out from the other actors.

Of the people who were up for Bond last time, the only ones I'd like to see considered again are Alex O'Lachlan, Goran Visnjic and Sam Worthington, and maybe Henry Cavill if things are looking desperate. Otherwise, David Oyelowo would be my pick for 007.

I have my own, thankyou very much. I don't agree. I don't think there is/was any way to tell what the sexuality of those characters were.

I'm only having a bit of fun. That said, I must admit that from the first time I saw CR, I believed Carter was gay. But maybe it's just wishful thinking...

I am gay and I can usually pick up on these things. I really don't know what gave you the suggestion he is. :)

I've always wondered why Bond is in such a foul mood with Carter. Perhaps 007 wanted him as one of his "passing fancies" (copyright: THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN) but things didn't quite go according to plan.

He was when Carter screwed up.

Hmm, I think Dominic West is sounding alot better by comparison. :(

Because if you throw a stick down Old Compton Street in Soho, you'll hit a dozen guys who look like Carter... :( He just gives off a gay vibe to me. But, again, maybe it's wishful thinking 'cos I wouldn't turf him out of the duvet...

I'd like to see Rupert Penry Jones, if were going to follow the blond bond revolution anyway.

In terms of classic Bond, i'd have to say someone like Matthew Goode or even Gerard Butler.

Where I live, I don't have the opportunity of seeing lots of British stuff, so that's why, until seeing Body of Lies earlier this week, I had never heard of Mark Strong before.
Seeing him in that movie, I feel he's extremely suitable to be Bond, or if his age is wrong by the time Daniel goes, at least a major villain in a future Bond.

Henry Cavill folks.

He got so close with a few parts as he was that good but too young. That will change.

But PLEASE ALL REMEMBER - just because an actor has worn a suit in another film or looks like a Bond amalgam doesn't make them a good choice. Daniel Craig had not done a Bond like role before until he 'auditioned' in LAYER CAKE.

I really hope not and just because he was so close dosen't mean he's secure in the future.

What got me on to Luke Goss was his preformance in BONE DRY, he's the perfect canidate to take over after Craig. I want continue the route manly men playing Bond, not too young and too cute types.

You are joking......please......... grab onto your integrity while you can and retract that before I report you on grounds of taste, decency and threatening the intergity of James Bond!!!

Luke Goss?!!!!

He can't even act and looks like a white Grace Jones.

Blimey. You dismiss Henry Cavill who will steam through the role and do the impossible of replacing Craig with British but American friendly style and you suggest Luke Goss.....?!!! ;o)

His preformance in Bone Dry said the opposite.

Do you honestly think Cavill could deliver a hard edged Bond ? I don't. I want someone like Hugh Jackman or Luke in the role, someone with a manly man style of acting and attitude.

Absolutely. He's an actor. Luke Goss is just a lucky performer with a better agent.

However, I once spoke to Bond management about the next actor. I was given the very good reply - "why think of a new husband when you are in a good marriage".

I think that will do for now.

He has to be more then just a good actor. Luke Goss isn't a terrific actor but I am convinced he could do Bond alot more justice then Cavill ever could.

I wouldn't expect anything else out them. Craig's coming has brought box office and artistic integrity. EON hasn't have both at the same time in decades.

Don't know about that.

But I do know, that Ben Barnes has Bond quality (but PLEASE don't watch that tripe Prince Caspian!)

Think his name's come up before. I think he'll probably be too young to make Bond Number 7, but Number 8 is definitely a prospect.

Cavill could be again considered. However, after Craig, most actors will possibly not want the role as immediate successor. Craig is too much loved by the press and the audience. And if EON chooses another pretty boy (this is not supposed to diminish CavillĀ“s acting abilities) they will probably be crucified for it. I guess whoever it is that follows Craig will be chosen for his acting abilities first and not so much for his looks.
