DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER (1971)
It is the summer of 1971. George Lazenby, after some weeks of serious convincing and soul-searching, has fired his agent, and is now starring in his second Bond film. The new film, "Diamonds Are Forever", is sold as a direct follow-up to the series’ previous cliffhanging entry, "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". The film is helmed by returning director Peter Hunt, who imbues the film with energy similar to that seen in OHMSS. It stars George Lazenby as James Bond, Charlotte Rampling as Faye, Robert Rietty as Seraffimo Spang, Lewis Collins as Jack Spang, Lois Maxwell as Miss Moneypenny, Desmond Llewelyn as Q, Bernard Lee as M, Jack Nicholson and Bruce Glover as Wint and Gore, Roger Moore as 008, Ricardo Montalban as Francisco Scaramanga, and Ilse Steppat and Telly Savalas returning as Irma Bunt and Blofeld, respectively.
The gunbarrel opens up on a nighttime scene as a limousine drives past the camera. We cut to a distant figure, dressed in a trilby and business suit, walking out from the shadows. He lights himself a cigarette, and watches as a man comes out from a building to talk with someone inside the limo. As the man nods in reply to something unheard, the limo pulls away, and the figure drops his cigarette and walks forward; as he does so, we notice he is wearing a wedding band.
