I think Craig will make 5 films up to 2012 (50 years of cinematic Bond). Bond 21=2006, Bond 22=2007, Bond 23=2009, Bond 24=2011 (summer) and Bond 25=2012 (winter). I think he will be too old by the age 45.

After him I favour Jack Davenport, now 32 or 33 but looking young.

Keep an eye on Lancel - he could just prove himself great for the role. Colin Farrell would be great as Bond if only he wasn't Colin Farrell.

View Post

Hmmm, I'm still not sure. Although Lancel is tall and dark, I couldn't imagine him saying "Bond, James Bond".

Tall and dark? He is 5'7 3/4" for pete's sake. http://imdb.com/name/nm0484220/bio

I have to say, when i saw The Count Of Monte Cristo, I thought Cavill's acting was horrendous - the worst part of the film. If he becomes Bond then I'm giving up on the Broccolis for good.

In a bit turn around for me - after seeing Layer Cake - I have done a U turn for Craig. Im his new number 1 fan and hopefully could do about 5 films, like Connerys original contract. Before finding someone else who is hopefully not Cavill - Dancy or Rupert what's his name from the libertine would get my vote.

Well, damn it, I know I am gonna get in trouble again, but I still really do not see Craig doing more than one. I am still not convinced about this whole thing. I know you guys are gonna get mad and say things, but I'm not gonna lie to you.

What about Alex O'Lachlan?

I agree here I'd find him a very good choice. Second to Hugh Jackman of course
seriously, if they want to go younger again after Craig, I'd find O'Lachlan a very good choice. :D

Sam Worthington was my favourite of the candidates we knew of before Craig was cast. I am a little mad because they choose to go with a ten year older actor who is balding, but I'm doing my best to suppress it, but I still can't decide if I'm going to support Craig, or be furios because they chose that almost bald guy over all the other better alternatives. :D :D :( :D

Gerry Butler will still be a "young lion" I would keep an eye on, however I'll bet the next Bond is someone nobody has even thought of yet.

He has apparently changed his name to Alex O'Laughlin now?! I tried to look him up on the imdb and drew a blank, so I typed in 'Oyster farmer' instead and that's how his name came up. Anyway, yeah he'd be a good future candidate, he looked the best out of that dreaded Final Four.

I'll be damned. He has changed it to "O'Loughlin". I wonder why...

Anyway, he'd be a fine replacement. I originally favored him for the role. I think Butler would also be good. I'm not sure about Cavill, but he might improve in the next few years.

Of course, it'll probably be a total unknown.

I'm new to this forum and I hate to start off in disagreement, but as a woman I find your comments interesting. I've discussed this with other women friends over the years and concensus seems to be that Tim Dalton was a man's idea of what a woman would find attractive, but actually I haven't found a single woman that would be interested in sleeping with him. Shallow as that may be, women wanting to sleep with JB is an essential component of the formula. TD: nice guy, but totally lacking sex appeal. As for PB, well at first I was well pleased with the news that he was to be JB, but he turned out to be so smarmy, only women of my grandmother's age fall for that. Daniel Craig is interesting because it seems to have been the men criticising his looks, whereas the women seem to agree that although not conventionally handsome, oh god he's sexy and manly. Just a different point of view.
As for who could do it next, I'm afraid I have fairly strong opinions on this one too, and I don't really approve of any of the candidates suggested. Incidentally, I wanted Dougray Scott this time around, but it seems that will never happen. Clive Owen; just no, attractive in his way but not JB. Andrew Lancel; very good in The Bill, but completely lacking in screen presence and sex appeal. Jack Davenport; same as AL. Henry Cavill; we surely can't have a gay James Bond.... Unfortunately while I'm slagging off this lot I haven't come up with any better suggestions, but trust me I'm working on it!

Didn't an article on the main page say that Julian McMahon had "greatly impressed" EON? If Craig does his three Bond films in a relatively short period of time (i.e.: no 4 year gaps in between films) and then leaves the role when his contract is up, then I wouldn't be surprised to see Julian McMahon at least back as a major candidate, as his TV contract would probably not be an issue in 9 years or so (at least with Nip/Tuck, since we all know that TV shows generally don't last that long).
