CH didn't have the specifics. Best to wait for IFP to tell us, I think.
I have no idea what the "something soon" is, but I'm pretty sure it's Young Bond related.

I know the Young Bond site had the time of the LA signing wrong, so it's a good idea to call and confirm the exact time with the store you're planning to hit.

I asked about Martini and other adult Bond references. This is when Higson revealed that the father of a future Bond villain is in SILVERFIN.
How he came up with the title SILVERFIN - the publisher wanted the word Silver in the title and when SILVERFIN was chosen Higson had to go back and work it in somehow.
The serum question - he reiterated that it wears off and does not account for his superhuman deeds later on |
and if Higson had researched Sardinia for the second book (he has been there a lot apparently).Higson was trying to come up with a location that had never been used before. He was already well into the second book when he realized it was featured in THE SPY WHO LOVED ME.
Also, we didn't get to ask the two terms thing because Higson covered it in his intro chat. IFP are the culprits. They told Higson that the books all had to start at Eton.

I was pretty spooked when I first heard the news of a "Young Bond" series. But after reading SilverFin, and especially after hearing Higson speak, I've really become a BIG fan of the Young Bond series. I now have a lot of confidence in IFP and the directions they are taking the literary Bond (much more than Eon and the cinematic Bond

Those who haven't read SILVERFIN are really missing out.

you mentioned in your article that "Higson said IFP has many exciting James Bond projects in the works with an announcement of something very cool coming soon. He mentioned a few of these projects, but then cautioned, "I don't know what I can talk about and what I can't."
Can you reveal what projects are in work?
BTW, great article

I look forward to any future Bond gatherings in the Washington DC area. Lana Wood is in Gaithersburg's Fair Grounds on May 14th and 15th. Perhaps we will run into each other then.
All the best

By the way, great article Charles. I had a great time Friday and it was great to chat with fellow 007 fans in person.

This is my first time posting here and I would like to take this time and say to doublenoughtspy and DLibrasnow what a pleasure it was to meet them Friday evening at Olsson's Book Store. The hour long book signing with Charlie Higson was memorable and I truly feel that the novels will do very well with the young readers.

Hi Stuart...welcome to CBn. It's great to see you post here.
Since the Gaithersburg fair grounds are only a couple of miles (literally) from my house I will definately be there this weekend.
I wish I had known when Tanya Roberts and Richard Kiel were there. That would have been interesting to have met Jaws.

I'm glad you enjoyed the article Darren - it certainly was a fun time.
What time are you thinking about going to see Lana Wood? And you Stuart?
I'm leaning towards Saturday early.

Most likely I'll be there in the afternoon, with video camera in tow. You might say "We will have 'Plenty' to do."
