Hey Darren,

I'll be there for the DC stop. What time are you going to be there?

For those LA-based CBners going to the signing in Torrance next week, if you haven't bought your copy of SilverFin yet, don't. I went to signing last night for the new Star Wars book and the way Brentanos does it is you have to buy at least one book by the author at the event -- your receipt is your ticket to get a signature. Not sure if Borders does it this way as well (I've gone to signings at Borders before and this wasn't the case), but I'm just giving a heads-up. Besides, it's still a good/polite idea to buy a book at the signing anyway just to support the author and the event.

Details again:

Tues. May 3
BORDERS
3700 Torrance Blvd.
Torrance, CA 90503
7PM - Reading & Signing

Directions (from L.A./valley):
Take 405 freeway SOUTH toward LONG BEACH/LA AIRPORT
Take the HAWTHORNE BLVD exit toward LAWNDALE
Turn Right on HAWTHORNE BLVD - go 3.2 mi
Turn Left on TORRANCE BLVD - go 0.1 mi
Arrive at 3700 TORRANCE BLVD, TORRANCE, on the right

This is the way its always been at every book signing I have been to. It only makes sense, the book store is hosting the author in the hopes that they will sell more copies of that book.

Make sure you ask Mr. Higson about Book 2. Maybe he can reveal the title.

Be sure to take lots of pictures Zencat.

Maybe give him a CBn t-shirt? That would be cool if we could get Bond people to start wearing CBn swag.

Darren and I will be seeing him this Friday in DC.

Met Mr. Higson tonight... he was VERY nice and a great speaker.

Charlie Higson has now been added to my 007 picture web-site. :)

A great time. Mr. Higson is a very cool guy. Considering what a very big TV celebrity he is in the UK, I was surprised at how soft spoken, modest, and self-effacing he is. He also looks MUCH younger in person than any picture I've ever seen of him.

He seems to have really sweated making this a good book and really cares what the fans think (he is truly worried will we crucify him for keeping Bond in Eton for more than two terms

Were there a lot of people there John?

Argh.. so I guess according to Higson the "young James Bond" film rights aren't so exclusive to EON. I would hope that if they ever consider it that they allow EON first shot at getting it. God knows what something like this could lead to. More lawsuits, Casino Royales and Never Say Never Agains. :)

Sounds like a good time though. I wish I could have attended one while he was in Chicago :) Oh well.

Side question, when is it expected that Book 2's title will be revealed? August or so?

Interesting report. :)

And of all the moments for your James Bond ringtone to be clearly audible... this has to have been a great moment. :)

I'm curious, zen: have you (or other "SilverFin" fans outside the UK) checked out any of his British TV comedy?

Did Higson reveal any specifics of IFP's plans with James Bond for the future?

Great article Zen and Athena,

Great for Higson to be at a Borders. The Borders at Wall Street and Broadway doesn't even have the book in yet.

So much for the huge release and marketing.

Thanks, B007GLE.

Yes, it doesn't seem the book is getting quite the same in-store push as the UK edition.

Hi Zencat,

you mentioned in your article that "Higson said IFP has many exciting James Bond projects in the works with an announcement of something very cool coming soon. He mentioned a few of these projects, but then cautioned, "I don't know what I can talk about and what I can't."

Can you reveal what projects are in work?

BTW, great article :)
