What do you mean by 'repellant'? Is the subject matter too strong for you?

I hate the fact that so many of you that have already decided to hate this-
Yes, it may turn out to be rubbish, but why don't you actually try the thing before you moan about it? For god's sake- the guy above is actually judging this book by its cover.

Hey, marktmurphy. I agree with some of your points, but why not try and pull back a bit from the overly confrontational approach? I'd like people to still be around CBn when SilverFin comes out. Then we can direct our "passion" (negative or positive) at the book instead of each other. :)

(And I'm sorry if this is overly confrontational. I just seem to be weirdly sensitive to this sort of thing today. Could be just me...)

Fair enough- I just can't understand the mentality of Bond fans who abuse new Bond books before they've even seen them.
And please, call me Mark :)

I was not trying to abuse a new Bond book. I just pointed out some weak points of the advertising campaign: the excerpt and the book cover design. I think those could tip the wrong scale. As for my English... well, it's not my native one. But I'm trying:)

Here's another tease. I'm currently reading SilverFin...I'll post my review on the day of the UK release (March 3).

........may I ask if you like it so far?

Nope. :)

But I will say I finished it this morning and I'm already working on my review.

I also hope/expect Jim will write a review as well.

That is all. :)

I'm really excited for this book! It's going to be awesome! :)

*Winds up to throw* :) :)

Not really excited about them. However: it's Bond, it's new, it's original.

Better than re-reading any of the other novels for the umpteenth time.

I guess Silverfin is worth giving it a try, however IMHO the cover still sux, it suits a box of washing powder more than a JB book (even if he is just a boy and the book is generally meant for kiddies) cover. Even if they can't patch on the cover the silhouette with a gun like on most of my Gardners and Bensons, a picture of some tough looking kid (a-la River Phoenix in Stand By Me) would be better.

LOL! Nah, thought I'd check out that forum to see who else was there. A pretty nice design for a beginning site.

It was very tricky how they made you turn on the light to find the key that opens the chest to the forums. Maybe that's why few people have joined the forum. :)

It sucks how we have to wait until March 10th to enter the contest for the Nintendo DS. They have two out of the four questions there already. It makes no sense. :)

Hope for the site's sake they update the forums a bit. While good, they seem kind of slow to load and transfer from page to page at times.

There are some Charlie Higson interview notes on the site if anyone is interested.
