There is no guarentee of how well the series will do right now, it's too early to make a accurate choice. I'm not saying some will and some won't Loomis, but that it is too early to tell where the preference of the majority on this book/series will lie.

Tell me Simon, what word/sentence in that statement prompted your reply?

Just picked up the new Publisher Weekly and there is a full page ad for SilverFin. The ad pretty much repeats and confirms everything in the main page story that launched this thread, but one new thing is a slightly modified tagline. It reads:

Before the name became a legend
Before the boy became a man
He was just Bond,
JAMES BOND

I like that. :)

I put this in another thread, but I thought I'd repeat it here as this is the thread about the massive U.S. promotion.

Um, where is it?

SilverFin is kicking butt in the UK as a Puffin book, but here in the U.S. it doesn't seem like Hyperion/Miramax (which is Disney for crying out loud) is giving the book anymore of a push than Putnam did with Benson. I know Higson did his book tour, but I've yet to see any of the promised TV appearances or adverts, etc. And where are those in-store displays? I stopped by a bookstore yesterday and found a few copies in the Teen section, which is what others seem to be reporting as well. Puffin is going all out in the UK and it's reflected in the sales numbers. I wonder how Hyperion/Miramax's efforts (or lack of effort) will reflect in US sales?

I agree. Olsson's didn't have any posters or point of purchase displays or anything - just store made flyers.

Haven't seen anything here for it.
