I guess I'm out, I couldn't edit my post though. Just not enough time, I might have it in a month or two.

Very sorry to hear that dajman. Will keep you in the list though as you still have a month, just in case things work out somehow. :)

You still have roughly around a month to complete the story, it is not due until January 30th.

Qwerty, the deadline for my 10,000+ story is starting to pinch a bit. :) I should get it finished, but as luck would have it a shorter story has popped into my head. :)

So make that one entry in each category. *Crosses fingers*

:)

Will do Hitch! We'll be glad to take either a "short" or "long" short story. :)

I seem to be somewhere about 16,000 at the moment. Ah well, never mind the quality, feel the width.

I finished writing my short story! :) I can't believe it went so quickly. Thanks to all at CBn for the encouragement - when I first blundered onto the site, little did I know it would encourage me to write a story. :)

Qwerty, I hope you don't mind me blowing my own trumpet. At least you know that I am definitely sending CBn a short story of under 10,000 words by 30th January. :)

As for the 10,000+ story...gulp. :)

Congrats on the 16,000 mark, Jim. :) I can't wait to read all the entries.

"Do you expect me to talk?"
"No, Mr Bond, I expect you to write fan fiction!"
"Aaarggh!" *dies horribly*

:)

Writing this stuff is like juggling jelly. How on earth did Fleming do it so well?

*Rings celestial telephone*

Hello? I'd like to complain about my talent quota, please. Specifically? Well, let me see, um...WHERE IS IT?!

I wish Bond 21 would turn up so I could stop writing without feeling guilty. :)

If I were a cinematic action hero I would be Richard Harris in The Wild Geese , begging Richard Burton to shoot me on the runway before the mob pulled me to pieces. Here's hoping the rest of you catch the literary aeroplane.

*faints*

:)

All computers that I have access to now claim that the disc upon which I had the story is now not formatted. Accordingly, unless I can sort this out, I have lost the lot, 16,000 words of it. I suppose this is a lesson in saving things to hard drive.

However

EDIT
Sorry, I've just re-read your post, and it's the actual floppy disk that's got the problem.

I have some software that could retrieve the data, but if the disk is damaged, then it's beyond repair.

You could try however to mode the back of the disk ( as if it was in the drive ) to see if the disk has jammed.

Just trying to be of some assistance
End of Edit....

Hey Jim!!!.

If you're on broadband, I maybe able to help you out here. :)

Please let me know.

Cheers,

Ian
