Wait until it's discounted. It's full price right now, but Amazon typically knocks 20% or 30% off.

Oh definitely. I should have worded that better. I always wait for their 10%-30% discounts. :)

I hope we get some good artwork.

I was wondering if these would be Hardcover or trade paperback.

But was it Amazon that listed the US Fleming reprints as hardcover last year, even though they were trade paper?

Hmm, I think you're right actually. And Amazon only screwed that up for some, it's just that hardcover and oversize trade paperbacks sometimes are catalogued similarily.

That would be quite a price if not.

I find it curious that it has not yet appeared for pre-order on the UK Amazon site...seeing as the UK edition comes out a month before the U.S. But I expect it might show up soon. When it does, I'll update the article with the link.

I often see the US amazon getting them up first actually.

Check this out:

Casino Royale (2003 penguin reissue):
Amazon.com Sales Rank (Books): 39,465

The Man With The Red Tattoo (2002 hardcover):
Amazon.com Sales Rank (Books): 49,474

SilverFin (2005)
Amazon.com Sales Rank (Books): 2,096,307

:)

Of course, who besides CBn is giving this book any publicity at the moment (and why would they -- it's still 7 months away)? I expect we will see a dramatic change in that number when the book is actually released. I just found this...amusing. :)

Britney Spears' Heart to Heart (2000)

Now if they could get Richie Fahey to design the cover for the US edition I might be interested. :)

I would be all for that. It probably wouldn't be jumped at at first regarding the kind of covers he did for some of the Fleming reprints, but he could do it. The cover for The Man With The Golden Gun for example, great idea for a Young James Bond novel.

A book set in Britain in the 30's with an 50's Americana cover? I hope not.

Why get him if it's not his style? Why not somebody else more suitable? Just because we've heard of someone doesn't mean they're the best for the job.

How do we know though that Fahey wouldn't be good at doing a cover for it though?

He might be, but there might be somebody whose style suits it more. Just because we've heard of one man doesn't make him the omly one capable of doing the job.

Fair enough. I'm all for someone else, if they could do a great cover as well. But this would be fine with me too.

This isn't James Bond, folks. It's another nail in James Bond's coffin, like what they are doing to the movie series. Why are so many people these days trying to kill my two favorite franchises? They've just about got Star Trek in the ground, why do they have to do this to Bond?

2 mil in advance orders is very good, but the sales of the 2nd book will indicate the real temperature of public opinion.

What is odd, is that it's completely the point not to destroy the series, but to hopefully make some changes that get more interested. I'll be intrigued to see how well it works or doesn't work with this idea here about the Young James Bond books.

Interesting. Amazon has changed the name of the publisher from Hyperion Books for Children to Miramax Books. Miramax and Hyperion have a deal in which Miramax title are released under the Hyperion name so I didn't find it strange that Amazon listed Hyperion as the publisher...but I wonder if this change indicates it won't be released under the Hyperion banner afterall?

I did a little investigation and it lead to a story...
