Then there's "Snow White and the Seven Sailors"....I don't believe it was a Disney release, but I'm sure it was produced in the valley;)

I think this thread has been in and out of disturbing areas from the beginning. What is it about Disney...

Now that we've sank to pørn and symbolism in Disney films....

*Pulls hand-brake and spins wheel*

Back on track -

So what IS the consensus? Would Bond truly enjoy Disneyland? Would he go back again since NSF?

I think not as it would ultimately end up reminding him of Flicka. I doubt you'll ever read or see 007 back at the Magic Kingdom.

Agreed, between that and the last bar of the song that reminds him of Tracy, the guy just can't muse about anything. :)

It just reinforces what I have thought for years, from dating a Disney lifeguard to dealing with their media contacts on a daily basis.

Perhaps on Bond 21 we could see Bond at Disneyland having the living crap kicked out of him by Mickey Mouse. Mickey Mouse could comment when Bond is dying on the floor covered in blood "piss on you, I work for Disney, get out you MGM ( MGM=Mickey Got Me ) freek". Ok, it's not possible but ya never know.

Are there any other Disney adult-dressed-up-for kids-themed movies?. Ah, yes, what about 'Beauty and thr Beast'?. Another fairy story....A beautiful Virgin, A Vicious Drunkard, A Hansom Man turned into a Beast, Stabbing, Forced Sex and general Violence.

Is it true that Disney's run by the 'Mafia', well the content sounds like it.

All the best,

Cheers,

Ian

Only if you count the way their executives usually leave. :)

Or The Little Mermaid.

Can you believe all the "adult" stuff that they hide in films like The Little Mermaid, Aladan, & The Lion King. I'm sure there are other hidden things in other moves too. Does everyone know what I'm talking about?

Hi Athena,

Yes, I do.

At Christmas over here we have 'Pantomines' where you usually get a female main lead, a male main lead, a male 'dame' dressed as a women, a comedian part and the baddy. There's always plenty of sexual innuendo, sweet throwing, death and bad humour. ( sounds like me really LOL ).

Can we think of any more examples?.

Merry Christmas to you and ZEN,

All the best,

Cheers,

Ian

My very first post on this board, and it comes from a Disney fan so you know which side I fall on...

Seriously, though...why not? The way I see it, Bond might associate Disney (as I do) with childhood innocence, and we know from that wonderful, wistful scene in the beginning of the OHMSS novel that he does look back on his childhood with fondness, and some longing. (Even if he did push the memory away a few sentences later, we can tell that he is a bit wistful for childhood innocence.) So...couldn't it be just another manifestation of that longing-after-innocence? (Maybe he had a favorite Disney movie as a kid? Saw Mary Poppins or The Jungle Book with his parents?)

Besides, I can see Bond being fascinated with the creativity and technical brilliance behind the rides. (Might even put Q in touch with a couple Imagineers.)

And, if all else fails...he'd be blown away by the Tower of Terror and the Rock n' Roller Coaster, two of the best thrill rides on the East Coast if not the country!

Especially if, as has happened to so many people (but not, thank God, to me), the boat gets stuck but the soundtrack doesn't...

"Really, 007, now we have to explain the bullet holes in all the dolls!"
"Ma'am...I've been shot at, beaten, subjected to electroshock and water torture...and I'd go through it all again before ONE MORE MINUTE OF THAT SONG!!!"

Cripes, that's happened to me so many times. I avoid the ride like bubonic plague now because I know it will happen to me every time I ride it. Now why don't I ever get stuck on Haunted Mansion like that so I can listen to "Grim Grinning Ghosts" for a while, the coolest song ever written for a Disney ride?

I got stuck right in the middle of the Haunted Mansion ride. We just sat there for about 10 minutes (no music track running), then kicked on the lights and led us back out. Unfortunately we went back out the way we came and didn't get to see any of the real interesting parts!

Well, if there's any ride I want to get stuck on, it's The Haunted Mansion. :)

I also wonder which "girlfriend" Bond brought to Disneyworld? Solitare maybe?

Have you never seen the Saturday Night Live skit called "Bullets Aren't Cheap"? Host Steve Martin plays James Bond to musical guest Sting's Goldsting. After defeating him in one game of baccarat, Bond leaves with girlfriend Jan Hooks on an Amtrak headed to Orlando. According to Moneypenny, Bond is on vacation, and when he has to spend his own money (as opposed to the firm's) he's rather parsimonious - "the Scottish thing..." Actually, the show never names the lady's character other than "Darling," but she's American, so could be Solange - Bond's Friday night girl in the States?

I remember the best line from that skit:

"The pretzels are no longer complimentary, Mr. Bond."

You know...I've just had another thought as to why Disneyland might appeal to 007.

He's up to his neck in moral ambiguity, in a world where nothing's as it seems and good doesn't always triumph. And when it does, there are often prices to be paid.

So mightn't it be a relief to him to lose himself--if only for a little while--in a place where good and evil are so clearly defined, and good always triumphs and evil is always punished?
