What perfect timing for this thread! (Zen & Athena) :) Well, I believe the Bond Files has a little information about this topic, and how Gardner takes so much detail in it. I do like how he did create the final scenes in EuroDisney, and Bond certainly seemed to like it there! I believe there was a lot of information Gardner had to get in order to include Disney in NSF.

Well, we spun it off my Birthday/Disneyland thread.

The Bond Files. I love that book. I just looked it up about Bond's attraction to DisneyWorld they said, "We are seriously starting to worry about Commander Bond at this point!" LOL.

Yup, Zen! That was the part I ran up and read as soon as I saw this thread! LOL It seems Bond has an 'inner child' in him somewhere. :)

I once was given a tour Below Disneyland. It's literally like something out of "Westworld". I can see why Disney would have insisted on a closed park in NSF, and it did work with the plot.

Disneyland's "mission control" center under the park is truly like being in one of Ken Adam's sets. Another little known fact - They have an armoury complete with fully automatic weapons. If something heavy ever went down at the park, they wouldn't need to wait for a SWAT team.

As the gentleman who gave me the tour said "it's controled, secure fun here. That's the way we like it."

Thanks, dude. :)

Getting that tour of the Disneyland catacombs/security must have been great. When we were teenagers, my friends and I tried to drink a few beers in the parking lot. We were busted in an eye-blink. LOL.

But here's a weird thing. In our hotel room, I drank an apple juice from our mini-bar at 1AM and then went right to sleep. In the morning, 8AM or so, we had our bill slipped under the door for easy checkout. The apple juice was on the bill! How the **** did they know?

Infra-red sensors. I'm not joking. I've had a complete accounting of my mini-bar use (*ahem* abuse) from the Venetian in Las Vegas.

We figured/hoped it was something like that. Because if there were cameras in our room, well... :)

"It says much for the efficiency of the Disney organization that staff at the parking lot had cleared away all the teens and beer bottles before the money-spending families arrived in their cars."

The next morning:

ZENCAT (angrily, to receptionist): Must have taken a pretty sick collection of minds to come up with a stunt like that!

RECEPTIONIST (smirking): Are you always this frisky?

Well as James Bond found out in FRWL, you have to be careful of those hotel mirrors.

Disneyland accident handled much differently compared to previous incidents
Tuesday, September 09, 2003 4:39 AM_ET | contributed by Jeff

After a deadly accident involving the Columbia sailing ship ride in 1998, Disneyland officials kept police at bay for 4 1/2 hours, letting them onto the scene only after the blood had been washed away. Disney officials escorted witnesses to police and often remained on hand for their interviews. But Friday, after an accident on the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad killed one person and injured 10 others, it was Disneyland's investigators who cooled their heels.

You have to register with the LA Times to read more...but this is interesting.

I think that the Ian Fleming written James Bond character would not change his opinion that EuroDisney was "tasteless, tawdry, and a bit phony." I really cannot picture this character in a theme park and enjoying the experience. He might admire how the park was managed and operated.

Same here. I seriously doubt that Fleming's Bond would even give the place a second thought past admiration for the security procedures. And even then it would be only a passing thought.

I'd believe it, sensors of some kind. You know Disney has this "secret lab" not sure exactly where is it. But one of my college Professors had been to it and he said they've come up with technology similar to R2-D2's hologram system. My prof said it looked like there was a can of coke in front of him and he reached out to take it and his hand went right through. I want to know what other trouble Disney is causing.

I've always suspected that the Getty Museum, Disneyland or the Scientology Celebrity Center in Hollywood were fronts for sinister organizations.

Would Bond (our idea of Bond) like the place?

Depends on the situation.

Even though it's never been implied beyond jazz, golf, gambling, women, fast driving, gun play, Eric Ambler thrillers, fine dining, travel and an assignment/mission, Bond is not beyond enjoying an amusement park......Is he?

As to NSF - He's on an assignment, but his first encounter (in Orlando) was strictly R&R and he had a good time. The girl probabaly helped a bit;)

Even though Gardner says Bond is being honest (given the situation) Bond might have been milking it a bit to relax the security guys into trusting him.

As long as they don't open "Tomorrow Never Dies Land" I'll be happy. Then again, could be fun.

"Scratch a Disney employee and you find precision."

Up-to-the-minute accounting, cutting-edge technology and spy systems, watertight security and huge discretion.... we've established that the Disney organization is highly efficient, and singleminded in pursuit of its aims. Maybe it could teach MI6 a thing or two.

Hi ZEN,

Just thought I'd post a pic of Carol as Snow-White.

The picture was taken at the 'City Variety' in Leeds when she was on tour.

All the best,

Cheers,

They need to pay their employees more. My ex-girlfriend was paid appallingly low wages, despite having to be lifeguard to such highpowered guests as Whitney Houston.

Wow! Carol makes a great Snow White. She's a beauty, lucky man. Thanks for posting the pic.

I actually watched Snow White the other night and that's one cool, freaky Disney flick. She IS the Black Dahlia, stalked by death the entire movie (and the orders from the Queen aren

Hi ZEN,

Thanks for that Matey. We've both got good lookers haven't we?.

Your right about the story which was based on 'Brothers Grimm' ( as you as probably aware ) and is 'dark' and evil.

I think the 7 Dwarf's were merely there for the sexual side of things. That reminds me of a joke "what's Snow White's favourite soft drink"?. 'Seven-up'!. Sorry!. *BS*

All the best John,

Cheers,

Ian
