While I think(and have thought for some time) that "Shatterhand" would be a great Flemingesque name for both a film and a villain, I feel that now yhat they have the rights it would be so appropriate to mark the fiftieth anniversary of "Casino Royale" by filming it next.
The problem is that unless you do it as a period piece (which ain't gonna happen), massive updating is going to be necessary because the original story is so tied up in the politics of when it was written.
So... what is there in Fleming's book that lends itself to filming? A terrific villain in LeChiffre (alias Herr Nummer etc), an appealing fellow ahgent heroine in Vesper Lynd who ultimately betrays Bond (which might be a bit too close to Elektra turning out to be a baddie), and the idea of Bond facing the villain over the gaming tables - a classic Bond situation. The villain's caper, and a lot of extra action would need to be added.
