I know very little about DVD players beyond the basics. Is there anythign I can buy to make my DVD player play Region 2 DVDs. I also have a computer with a DVD player. Will that play region 2 DVDs? Thanks to anyone that can help. I would really like to get my hands on the UK version of DAD.

A computer can play any region...its all about the software. As far as I know, there isnt anything you can buy that will make your DVD player, but you can modify it to play region 2, or you can buy a multi-region DVD player. I wouldn't reccomend it if it is only for DAD, but if you get DVD's from all over the place. Your best bet is to look for software that plays all regions.

You can get codes off the net that when entered into the machine make it multi-region. This is known as 'hacking', is perfectly legal and what's more, doesn't harm your macine in anyway.
Usually it's just a case of opening the disc tray, entering a series of numbers and the closing the tray again. Search the net for the code for your machine because if you do get the wrong one it can cause problems.
I did my one today and I also did my older one several months back so I can vouch for the effectiveness and safeness of it. In fact i found that many DVD mags also recommend it.

I actually have not had the chance to try it yet. I have a Sony DVD player and have had a hard time finding codes for that. I also have a DVD player in my computer. Do I need to change the regions in my computer or will it automatically play Region 2? Thanks for all the help thus far.

Usually Computers change on their own but mine only changed a certain amount of times and now it can't play Region 1. Whether it's the software or not I'll have to check but I don't really use my PC player that much at all.
When looking for codes make sure you search more your models exact code. It also makes them easier to find.
Good luck.

Sorry. I don't think I was too clear above - what I meant was search for your EXACT MODEL's code.
eg. I have a Schneider DVD857. It's very important that you include the model number in your search.
