If you check over at the Roger Moore forum you'll notice a similar thread. I thought it was a great idea. So when did the audience you were with cheer or laugh? My first Bond in the theater was TWINE, so I'll start with that.

TWINE-

The Jump out of the window in the pre-titles- got huge laughs and cheers.

When Bond jumps out of the boat and grabs onto the rope- huge cheers.

When Bond slashes the Para-Hawk with his skis- huge cheers.

The X-Ray scene in the casino- huge laughs.

Bond using the grappling hook watch in the bunker-huge cheers, one guy said, "Yea right!"

Gasps when it is revealed that Elektra is evil, one guy yelled out, "That Bitch!" and the audience started laughing.

"The insurance company is never going to believe this."- biggest laugh.

When Bond impales Renard with the Nuclear Rod- huge cheers and applause.

"I thought Christmas only comes once a year." Some laughs and groans.

DAD

When Bond takes Van Bierks glasses and smiles- Huge applause.

"Saved by the bell."- Cheers and applause.

"I'm checkin' out." -I almost went deaf from the applause.

Bond walking into the Hotel like a bum- Huge cheers and applause.

Halle Berry emerging from the sea- Huge cheers, mostly from the men in the audience, (including myself) :)

First appearence of the V12- Huge applause

Kill getting lasered in the back of the head- Huge applause.

"Hey boss... he beat your time."- Huge laughter.

The aston martin flip- Huge Cheers and applause.

Bond killing Zao- Huge cheers and applause.

Bond reviving Jinx- Huge applause.

Bond killing Graves- Huge Cheers and Applause.

Moneypenny VR scene- The biggest laugh of the night, I almost went deaf again.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

So, when did you audience cheer?

Many leap to mind -

However, opening night of GE in '95 - Right after the "forgot to knock" reveal line. The close-up as he opens the door and moves down the stairs got an audible "Ooooooo" and gasp from the audience. Brosnan was Bond and he meant business.

A great moment.

GE.

In the cinema I went to the bit when he flies after the plane got laughs (and it's far-fetchedness).

The "Onnatop" (Bond saying it) Also got laughs.

I overheard one girl say, when GE was over that it was full of "Typical James Bond Double entendre's" (well summat like that).

The one that stands out most for me was the "Christmas only comes once a year" line from TWINE. There was one big collective groan from the theater I saw it in.

The audience I saw DAD with on its second day of release was pretty quite. Then again, I was sitting at the very back of the theater.

It seems like the second time I see the Brosnans I have more trouble with the experience. The second time I saw TND, my wife and I sat in the next to last row and a group of young teen girls sat there behind us and were annoying the whole time, talking and moaning about how boring the film was.

The second time I saw GE, it was in a cheap second-run theater where it was too warm. This one guy decided to stand in the doorway, letting the light in so he could be cooler. I asked him to please sit down and he whined about it being too hot. He soon sat down.

I had the opposite thing happen last winter when I saw DAD again. That theater was too cold.

During DAD, the girl in front of me gasped loudly enough to make everyone turn to her when Miranda suddenly turns the gun on Bond.

GE - Biggest laugh was Boris' "I am invincible" before being frozen solid at the end of the film.

TND - Biggest laugh came when M made the reference that Carver had thought to have drowned in an accident after falling off of his yacht (a direct reference to Robert Maxwell)

TWINE - Biggest laugh was Valentin's remark that "The insurance guy is never going to believe this!"

DAD - I can't actually remember the audience laughing about anything..

Actually, from all the Bond movies I saw in theaters, DAD recieved more crowd reaction than the rest.

ve only seen twine and DAD, but i can distinctly remember the crowd enjoying twine much much more. they all loved the tie adjustment underwater, the boat chase (especially when the two officers got soaked), and much more. DAD got made fun of when I saw it. The only time I heard a good reaction was when they showed all those beautiful cars in north korea. other than that it was a laugh fest, or a contest to pick out the fake stuff.

I remember on the opening night of GE the crowd yelling "We want Bond" and then cheering as the gunbarrel appeared on the screen.

The only other moment that sticks in my mind was the collective groan and "boo's" from the "Christmas once a year" pun in TWINE.

Hm, if you say so. I remember a somewhat passive crowd in TWINE. Lots more laughs and excitement from people in DAD.

I'll add another to the DAD list, although its not a Brosnan move. When Berry grabs those two swords (Kuri I beleive) and holds them at the two opposite angles got a positive reaction.

The 3 times in a row I saw GE in the theater, the audience was very responsive. I don't remember notable audience response for TND. The first time I saw TWINE, I remember a couple in their 60's in front of me who were particularly enjoying the film, as was the group of 20-somethings sitting next to me. At a later showing, though, I remember a group of teens groaning at several scenes, particularly when Bond tells Elektra he can't spend the night with her.

DAD was odd. The first time I saw it was in the late afternoon on the day of opening, but the audience definitely did not consist of die hard fans (I remember the guy in the line in front of me actually asking for tickets to "Die Hard" until his friend corrected him!). Someone sitting behind me in the audience kept asking his companion, "Who's that?" when characters like Q or Moneypenny appeared on screen. Only real laughs came during the Q scene and the Moneypenny VR scene. Otherwise, it was a dead crowd. The second time I saw DAD, however, the audience was much more responsive, and I did enjoy the movie a bit more.

Yea, I'll agree that TND wasn't very responsive either when I saw it. Perhaps less than TWINE even.

You have to wonder if some of the "reactions" posted here are based more on how the user personally feels about the movie, than reality....

That's a good point. That thought crossed my mind given the first post on this thread. Sounds like a pretty rowdy theater to me anyway. Regardless, I think that depends on the person and how objective they are when they see a movie.

I know that the responses I posted at the beginning of the thread sound strange, but I can assure you they are real. I got the first avaliable showing at the UA theater here in Brooklyn and it was packed. There was even a group of guys dressed in tuxedoes, Bond finatics no doubt.

I saw all the Bronsan movies in theaters but luckily no noise making in the theater. I tend to see movies on weekdays where there is a smaller crowd and less chatter.

I just wondering...did most of you go see these films with friends or alone. I saw TWINE with my brother, but I saw DAD with friends. I liked it better when it wasn't with friends..don't know why. Booyeah_ i think i will start seeing movies during the day time too.

I saw TND with my dad. Thank God, because we were going to see what the hype was about Titanic at the time. Went to the theater, found out the movie was in the ballpark of three hours long, saw Bond (as an aside, I later caught Titanic on an in flight movie, not impressed at all). I saw TWINE with some distant friends, thier dad recently died in a mill accident who my mom was good friends with the boys' mother. I saw DAD with a bunch of guys from my high school that happened to come up to visit me here at college one weekend.

I'd love to go to a movie session like the ones you guys have described.

Here in Australia, no-one claps or cheers in cinemas. Moneypenny scene got the biggest laugh though, with "saved by the bell" probably second.

I can't speak for everyone here, but I really do try to view the Bonds objectively. This is why I usually catch the first showing alone.
Audience response can help my enjoyment of the movie, though.
I hated the 2nd half of DAD the first time I saw it (I almost walked out) but my expectations were lower the 2nd time, and the crowd was more appreciative, so the experience wasn't as painful.
