I Want Hugh Jackman as the New Bond after Brosnan.

See him in Swordfish and Kate & Leopold and you will understand why.

He's still an ugly SOB. He's the kind of person Austin Powers would go up and punch out, trying to pull off their hair.

"WHY WON'T THIS WIG COME OFF???!!!"

Looks like poor old Clive is going to need all the help he can get on this thread, so I'm jumping back in to say:

YES!

I think Clive owen is certainly closer to what Fleming had envisioned Bond to look like. That being said...he's not the prettiest actor who ever lived.

But again, I am torn. Bond is not just about looks alone...and since he does look something like Fleming wanted, who am I to say no?

I'll go with yes.

I agree that good looks alone do not a good Bond make, and while we're on the subject I don't think Connery, Moore and Dalton were all that stunning. I acknowledge that Connery had, and has, charisma and sexual magnetism in spades, but was he ever a knockout looks-wise? Did women ever swoon over Moore and Dalton?

In any case, I believe Owen is more than sufficiently handsome to play 007, and I also agree with Xenobia that he "is certainly closer to what Fleming had envisioned Bond to look like."

Well, I know my mom swooned over Moore. I've yet to meet anyone who did so over Dalton though...

Clive Owen is handsome enough.

He would not be the star of the BMW commercials, the Second Sight detective series on the BBC, or the star of the new film about King Arthur if the public did not accept him as a leading man.

Yes there are some unflattering photos out there - but if you saw the picture of Pierce Brosnan in the subway car with the huge afro & nose ring (run in the Enquirer and some other tabloids) - would you have said "This man is handsome enough to play James Bond!" Of course you would not have.

I'm sure with the right hair cut, makeup that lessens his nose, and a tuxedo - he would fit the bill perfectly.

As others have said - he fits the book description of Bond perfectly. I know we are far removed from that portrayal, and that the previous attempt to match that (Dalton) did not do that well with audiences.

But as a huge fan of Fleming & the James Bond films - I would much rather see Clive Owen as James Bond than any of the other candidates.

Oh jeeze, you're comparing Pierce in a grainy street theater costume candid at age 17 to Clive Owen in a current posed portfolio shot? I've seen Owen in plenty of photos and in several movies and TV shows and I just don't see him as a handsome man. Interesting and not unpleasant looking might be more appropriate.

Now Dalton, not my favorite Bond or actor, but a very handsome man. Moore while I'm not attracted to him at all, is also a very good looking man. Connery while maybe less traditionally handsome than the others I find more attractive, but still a handsome man, more as he got older. Lazenby, um no, not attratced and don't think he was very good looking but still better looking than Owen who I actually prefer to him.

Is there a difference between looks and attraction, most definitely. But an un-handsome Bond, I don't think so. Now even Fleming referred to Bond as handsome and good-looking through-out his novels. Now his idea of handsome might be different from mine or others (Hoagy Carmichael?) but he did think Bond was handsome. And the actors he was interested in portraying Bond certainly showed that he had handsome actors in mind. Cary Grant, Stewart Granger... very handsome dashing leading men.

No on Owen's looks. I don't think we need a male model in the role but this guy is not going to cut it. I like Hugh Jackman and Eric Banna right now but I'd love to see another unknown like Lazenby. Maybe the Broccoli's should visit the SAS headqarters and scout a newcomer nearing the end of his military career? That would be an interesting choice, "a former SAS soldier"?

My sister thought Dalton was "beautiful", btw.

I was watching TLD with my mom and she thinks that Dalton is the sexiest out of all the Bond actors, but she still goes crazy whenever she sees Brozzy.

As much of a good actor as Owen might be, I think his looks are far from 'handsome' especially if he is to succeed one of the best-looking guys in the business. My first choice to succeed Brosnan at the moment is Jason Statham, whom I checked-out recently in THE TRANSPORTER and was impressed.

Sorry, but the more I see of Clive Owen, the more I think of him as the bad guy's prime henchman, not as Bond. He looked like a thug in "The Bourne Identity" and he looks like a thug in a tuxedo in the photos above. I can't see that MGM would consider making him the starring character of a multi-billion dollar film franchise, especially since he would be following Brosnan.
