Just reading an article over at http://breaking.exam...story98103.html about Brosnan appearing in The Matador. Anyway, it claims that at 50 Brosnan is considered too old to play Bond and that "Dublin actor Pete Townsend continues as one of the hot favourites to take over as James Bond."

Who the hell is Pete Townsend? :) Funny how Irish actors keep cropping up in the frame to play 007 next. There was that Johnathan Rhys Meyers bloke the other week..

He's a guitarist for The Who, isn't he? :)

The only listing of a Pete Townsend on IMDb has him lisded as just "voice" in an animated 1993 movie.

No other details on him though, but I doubt it's the same one.

Somebody's got their Townsends severely mixed up. Pete is, of course, the legendary guitarist for The Who and in the headlines today for less creative things (legal trouble) and not even Irish but English.

They are probably talking about an Irish actor called Stuart Townsend. He starred as the vampire Lestat in the bomb Queen of the Damned and will be Dorian Gray in the upcoming League of Extraordinary Gentlemen film. On the Internet Movie Database, his photo gallery section actually has pictures of him in a tux. Personally, he doesn't do much for me as a potential Bond.

Considering the people who wrote this couldn't differentiate between the legendary guitar god and this guy, this report shouldn't be taken any more seriously than the Indian actress reports, Ralph Fiennes reports or any other rumors to come out recently.
