This may have been raised before...when Goldfinger greets Bond on the laser table as "007", he says "You have been recognized. Let's say by one of your opposite numbers, who is also licensed to kill." Who was his opposite number? I'm assuming it must've been a red chinese agent, since Goldfinger was dealing with them to get a dirty bomb. I don't think it was Mr.Ling-he's a scientist. Maybe an agent who accompanied Mr.Ling?

by "opposite number" i suppose Goldfinger means anyone else in the 00 section who is licence to kill, as Bond himself states that "if i fail to report, 008 replaces me".

Actually, Wai Lins character's original name was Lin Pow. Actress Michelle Yeoh suggested the change because 'Pow' apparently means "bun" in Chinese.
