Joe Don Baker is Jack Wade. So recasting the role of Wade would be stupid. If they wanted to get a new CIA agent in the films, they might as well just create a new one or get a new Leiter because without Joe Don Baker you can't have Wade.

  • David Hedison (Live And Let Die)
  • Jack Lord
  • Rik Van Nutter
  • David Hedison (Licence To Kill)
  • Cec Linder / Norman Burton / John Terry (equal last, but if they want they can fight out who is 5, 6, and 7)
If I was allowd to include Bernie Casey, he would be #4 and eveyone below him would slip down one placing.

Hard to believe that ANYONE can have the hots for Dalton's Bond.

Anyway, my Felix list

1) Rik Van Nutter
2) Jack Lord
3) David Hedison
4) Cec Linder
5) John Terry
6) Norman Burton

So who do you think it was. Here's a little ranking list:

1. David Hedison
He felt most Felix-esque. A more CIA like agent than the others. And he did two great performances in the Bond universe. Dave is the man!
2. Rik Van Nutter
His performance in Thunderball was great. Here he also felt more CIA-ish. That grayish tone of his hair wasn't good, but who cares. He can drive a helicopter.
3. Jack Lord
The first Felix is also great but he feels more mystical spy than a CIA agent. He looked great in glasses. A little more screentime would have been good
4. Norman Burton
Quite good but not as good as the first three.
5. John Terry
Not good. He looks more like a college student than a CIA agent. Bad bad.
6. Cec Linder
The worst. He looked more like Bond's nice good ole man than Felix Leiter. Too bad because Goldfinger is a quite good movie which has a bad Felix.

Your lists?

Skin color doesn't make any difference really in this case. He's not my number one favorite, but he played the role excellently.

There's a lot of support for Jack Lord's Felix. He certainly looks the part and compliments Connery as Bond's CIA counterpart. But the thing that bothers me about him is he doesn't join Bond in going to Crab Key.

I know that's true to the book, but it would have been nice to have Leiter in the action. Kind of interesting the Leiters of TB and LALD didn't go directly into the action but played a kind of secondary role.

I kind of wish that would have happened also. However that would mean it would be James Bond, Quarrel, Honey Ryder, and Felix Leiter all on the trek to find Dr. No's lair.

It seems like it may be a little too much.

Jack Lord first, then everybody else. I could care less about the order, as IMO Jack Lord was the only Felix who could have gone hand to hand with Bond and he's also the only one I could envision going on truly dangerous missions with him, not just helping him put on scuba gear...:)

I have to say I voted for Rik since he was about the closest we ever got to the Leiter of the books. I like Jack and David as well. Actually all three equally. Cec and Norman fall into the category of too old, but still likable. Bernie did alright, and had good chemistry with Sean. John Terry, not too fair to judge based on his very few seconds in the film. I just remember being glad they had brought Leiter back in TLD.

:) Hey now, Rik Van Nutter is probably second best for missions of those kind right after Lord. :)

In my opinion Jack Lord and Rik Van Nutter are tied for being the best Felix Leiter. I hope that if Felix is in CR that he is closer to Bond's age, essentially an American 007. If they are going with the restart route, they can't really do Felix with prosthetics.

Indeed. The top two by far. They epitomize the idea of a cool fellow agent, one wonders how Dr. No would have been for instance if Lord had went with Connery's Bond on the island, as it has been asked before on here.

The problem I found with John Terry's Felix was that he just looked too young in comparison to Bond.
