The ABC network's weekly airing of the Bond movies gets a shot in the arm this Saturday, March 9, when Roger Moore hosts Live and Let Die.

When ABC announced it would be showing the Bond films, they promoted it like it would have new interviews and some interesting features. What they have mostly been, though, is thinly disguised promos for their shows and information for the general audience and little for Bond fans. They had a song survey which was okay, as was a segment with the Bond women; and the cast of Alias was, at least, appropriate for the genre But the opening week with the embarassing Jim Belushi and last week's hosts, the women of The View, were low points. For non-American fans, The View is a late morning talk show over here hosted by a group of mostly middle-aged women. They hosted Diamonds Are Forever and had little discussions between commercials on very inane things like would Bond make a good husband and were Lana Wood's breasts fake. The highlight was a preview of Live and Let Die that said Moore would be hosting. It too is really basically a promotion for his appearance on Alias the following night, but that's okay. At least he probably won't be talking about whether his Bond would make a good husband.
