I found a very tiny picture of the display in the latest issue of Video Store Magazine (U.S.). I don't know if this has been posted here before? Enclosed is a scan.... enlarged a lot so forgive the mediocre quality :)

That's a mighty fine display.

I hope they show up here in Canada. Is this the one that supposedly sells posters along with it? I have not been able to find a DAD poster ANYWHERE, and I would absolutely love to have one on my bedroom wall. Hopefully they show up somewhere soon, although you'd think they would have released them ahead of the theatrical release instead of the DVD Edition.

Ah well, that's MGM for you.

Thanks for posted that. Boy, Bond looks a little, er, limp in this pose. Berry is sportin' all the Bond attitude here.

Why has the better artwork for all of Brosnan's movies been found in the home video promotions?

Ah the dilemna....to tell the truth or a convenient lie. Hmmmmm. I'll go with the truth.

When renting videos, we ladies can leave our tapes with our friends or SOs, go stand in front of such a display, block out HB and pretend we got to pose with Pierce.*

*Yes the above is sarcasm. I don't pose with displays and leave evidence.

I've got a six foot cut out of Pierce that my friend got for me from a record store advertising the BOGOF DVD promotions. Strange thing is he overlooks my bed (don't read into that), and one time it fell over in the night and i woke up with it inches from my face.

Scared the hell outta me. (and it scares people coming into my room at uni)

An interesting anecdote, non? Maybe you'd like to come to my room babs and pose with my cut-out? :)

Just take a stab in the dark here with a guess...
All the hype has died down that went with the theatrical release. It is a well known fact today that very little of the actual take of a movie is made during it's theatrical release (less than half in actual fact).
Most movies make a big chunk of their money these days in the Home Entertainment market (tickets cost around $5.50 for a matinee and $8 for an evening showing - a DVD will cost between $15 to $25 you do the math). To take as an example the DVD of "Ice Age" made more on DVD than it did at the box office.
Due to the low cost of DVDs a lot of collectors will not go see a movie at the theater but instead just purchase the DVD. My landlord does this, I don't think the guy has been to a movie theater in a couple of years, he just buys each new movie when it comes out on DVD.

I actually work in a video store, and all the promotion for the DVD began a coupla weeks ago. In fact, we got sent a package for promotion of the film which contained a booklet, screener tape, and a clock(!). The contents of the box were emptied and put around the store, and the box is being used for display right now. I put my name in it to ensure it goes to my waiting hands when we're finished with it.:) Even though it prolly won't have anything in it when we're done with it, the box itself is quite attractive by itself. Be nice to add this to the mint, unused standee of Pierce promoting the 007 Special Edition DVDs. Next up, I'm going to try and scam one of those DAD standees. The perks of working in a video store.:) And Xen, don't you think that it would be easier for the next film's video standees to have cutouts of Bond and the girl's head for those very reasons you mentioned.:)
