Which Moore gunbarrel intro is the best? Is it (A) the one that appeared in LALD and TMWTGG? Or is it (:) the one that appeared in TSWLM and the subsequent films?
I actually like (A) better. I'm not sure exactly why. Perhaps it's the non-bell-bottomed (or not clearly seen bell-bottomed) pants. But the most noticeable difference is where Roger positions his left hand after he turns. In (A) he stops and steadies his right arm close to but clearly above his wrist. In (:) he goes right to the wrist. Perhaps because of this, (A) seems faster, more deadly, and reactionary (as if he just caught sight of the villain and must make his move quick).
But don't get me wrong -- I like (:) too. Thank God that hat is gone too (from the Connery days). Brosnan uses one arm (if I recall correctly) and the scene seems to lack impact.
What do you guys think?

I don't remember both of them clearly but I probably would say (A) is my favorite. I like the bell-bottoms and how he raises his right arm.

I vote for (A), especially TMWTGG's gunbarrel. I'm particularly fond of John Barry's rendition of the James Bond theme in that one.

I liked LALD, and TMWTGG's gun barrel sequence the best, but TSWLM, and MR weren't bad, but the bell-bottoms got real old after MR.

Spy Who Loved Me, shame the theme is edited badly, as I think Marvin wrote something better but the producers got it edited. Bond in a tux is much cooler in the gunbarrel. I'm really surprised that they didn't shoot a new one for the 80s.

You've got a point panavision. I think a new intro should have been shot for the 80s films. Bell-bottoms had gone out of style, I think, by that point. The other think worth considering in a comparison between (A) and (:) is the tux. In (:) Rog is in a tux. But I still like (A) better.

The traditon of the Gun Barrell sequence in a Tux . Started with Roger Moore . PLus in keeping with the epic scope of "The Spy" . It was shot in Panvision like Thunderball .

I love the early '70's funky version of the Bond theme from
LALD. It remains my all time favorite.

The first by far. It just seems a little different.

The second one has the advantage of the tuxedo, but Moore seems to move so slowly and with so little effort he couldn't have picked off the broad side of a barn had a real assasain been following him. What saves it was the gunbarrel music.

I can actually name one: For Your Eyes Only, because of the different music. It's the Bond theme in a more modern version with electrical guitar. I love it

All of the Bond Gun Barrel music used electric guitars . The original was by a guitarist friend of John Barry's named Vic Flick . In fact according the legend his amp was broken . That's what give it a different sound.

Yep, now that I think about it you are perfectly right, but as you probably understood I like the different sound of the guitar :)

I agree with you on the electric guitar . I hate the Arnold Techo James Bond Theme. I think he hates it too , since he also uses Barry opening to FRWL .

I love the music documentary on the AVTAK dvd. Seeing those people who have worked on the films was a great plus, the bonus was watching Vic Flick himself play the guitar part.

I hope Duran Duran play another Bond theme song. No Bond theme song has been great since 85'.
