Who should direct Bond 21?

Phillip Noyce looks like a good choice. "The Quiet American" was riveting.
Has anyone noticed that two of the choices in this poll (John McTiernan, Stephen Hopkins) directed Predator 1 and 2, respectively?

Just as long as the Anderson guy from AvsPredator doesn't direct, I suppose I can't bitch too much. Between EVENT HORIZON and SOLDIER, this guy seems intent on murdering filmed SF on his own. Hate to see him add 007 to his list of uncredits.Martin Campbell looks the overwelming winner here.

Not all that surprising, after all, 17 other people did too.I actually voted "as long as they don't use CGI" LOL but there are several films on there I found quite good by different directors. I do remember sitting in the theater during NO WAY OUT, being glued to my seat for the suspense factor. It played well, very well. I enjoyed Zorro too though. Goldeneye is my favorite Pierce Bond film. So...I had to go with the "no CGI". LOL

Don't even think the thought. He's fine, or just however you describe him for the Star Wars films, but Bond?George Lucas so that we are sure that the CGI in Bond 21 will be a lot better then in DAD.

He is Sony's golden director having directed two very successful Spider-man films. Sony should encourage Eon to consider him. I think he could be the man to give the Bond franchise a serious creative kick up the backside.

I think Sam Raimi should direct Bond 21.

I don't know if I could see him doing a Bond film. He seems to be a very able director, but seeing his work on the two Spiderman films seems to show the direction (as obviously) in the comic-book action style. Just don't know how he would do a Bond film.

I agree, Cameron or Spielberg would make one hell of a good movie. If you want to see a no-holds barred cool James Bond movie, JAMES CAMERON would be the best choice. Steven Spielberg would make a good one too. Both could make the CGI believable too. But EON would want some director who will allow them to ghost-direct the movie.
OK, I may get hammered for this

EON would not hire these ( creative directors ) because they would clash with their own input.
Check out that scene in Catch Me if You Can when the prostitute seduces DeCaprio. It's very flemingian with a lush 'The Look of Love' underscore.
I feel EON are going down the wrong road hiring directors who can only do half of their job. I feel it's about time they gave a director ( who is established ) more control of the show.
Cheers,
Ian

Martin Campbell (GoldenEye, Zorro, Vertical Limit, Beyond Borders)
A great director, who especially did a marvelous job on GoldenEye. He should definately come back and to at least one more.
Michael Apted (The World Is Not Enough, Enigma)
Also a very good director, who can do great things with great scripts. Unfortunately the script for TWINE was weak, so he should be given a second chance.
Anthony Minghella (The English Patient, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Cold Mountain)
A talented English director, who has directed few but great movies. He has lots of skills and uses them great in the movies I have listed. Should be a top choice!
Christopher Nolan(Memento, Batman Begins)
Inexperienced and young, but his work with Memento was original and very interesting, and I hope we can see Batman Begins turning out great.

Martin Campbell - directed Clive Owen in Beyond Borders, and said in the press after it what a great Bond CO would be (something to the effect that he looks like if he hit a man, he'd stay down).
Michael Apted - but only if he did it more in the style of his documentaries. 007 up.

Philip Noyce - I liked The Quiet American and parts of Dead Calm - but I haven't forgotten The Saint and Sliver, both of which were appalling.
Doug Liman? For a Bond so money he doesn't even know it.

Indeed. I've been watching Memento over again lately, and I like how he experimented with that movie and it's direction, I thought it turned out pretty good in the end. He'd be an interesting choice.

If the producers could get Martin Campbell signed, maybe he could persuade Clive to be Bond? Both Martin and Clive would be great to have on-board for Bond 21.
Yeah, Philip noyce would be a quite good choice, I can certainly agree with that. He did great on Dead Calm and The Quiet American. I wouldn't be dissapointed if they chose him!
