Of all the Bond novels by Fleming, Gardner, and Benson, which villain do any of you think was the most threatening or menacing? I don't know where to start. I think Blofeld first because he tormented Bond the most, and was practically a genius. But other than him, who would would it be?

Well...the later villains usually trump the earlier villains when it comes to schemes.

So I'll rephrase the question as "which villain was the evilist?" In that case, I'd say Drax, No, Blofeld, Neo-Blofeld, and Le Gerant.

The way Le Chiffre was "teasing" Bond and calling him "my dear Bond" whilst torturing him was very sinister.
I always thought Mister Big was a nasty piece of work and Drax.
But if I had to choose THE most menacing - it would be a split between DR. NO and Blofeld.

I haven't read all Gardner novels but I thought the one in BROKENCLAW was pretty mean. As for Benson, I liked the female villain in Facts Of Death. I can't really pick a "most menacing" for Gardner or Benson.

Le Chiffe did the worst things to Bond, but he was never really featured prior to the torture scene. Bond plays carsd with him, but they don't speak, so he's not as threatening as some others. I'd say Blofeld is definitely the most threatening, though. Followed by Red Grant, who is crazier and more deadly than any other henchman.

Looking back at Brokenclaw, I think when Brokenclaw stripped Bond naked, covered him with meats and strapped him to the ground for wolves to eat was pretty menacing. What also is pretty menacing is when Spang made Mr Wint and Mr Kidd beat Bond to a bloody pulp in those boots. Maybe this should be changed to who did the worst to Bond.

Nena Blofeld in For Special Services was quite manipulative, what with the crumpet with Bond and the such, and stood there in a grotesqu

I think Brokenclaw Lee (from Brokenclaw) and David Dragonpol (Never Send Flowers) are two very good, menacing Gardner era Bond villains worthy of Fleming.

I would go for Drax.
