I'd like to see something more solid, a visit to Tracy's grave or a spoken reference, perhaps her father could appear or be mentioned somehow (ignoring the Benson book where he shows up for now)?

I think the biggest tragedy is the original line from Goldeneye that wasn't used.
It was in the 006 confrontation scene at the end, and the line about martinis drowning out the screams also included a line if seeking comfort in all those womens arms ever dulled the pain of knowing there was one woman he just could not save.
It was sooo powerful and lept off the page at me when I read it.
I would love to see a scene at the graveyard, but I think Bond, being a secret agent, has learned his lesson during FYEO - that his enemies know the anniversary of Tracy's death and would be waiting for him.
A possible suggestion would be a minor character, not someone he sleeps with mind you, is named Teresa. He either does a slight double take (not Moonraker pigeon exaggerated double take mind you) or he makes a comment about what a wonderful name that is.
Another possiblity would be a mention of weddings and Bond mentioning that he isn't very fond of weddings for obvious reasons. The viewer could infer either OHMSS or LTK or both.
I think the other lost opportunity was when Elektra asked him about losing someone - he should have said "yes - a Countess".
This would have referred to both his fictional wife - Tracy, and also his real life late wife Cassandra who played Countess Lisl

And that is precisely why this Bond could never do a reference like that, because the audience would immediately forget they are watching James Bond, and think "Oh poor Pierce."
PB as Bond's reaction to Elektra's question -- that knowing look -- spoke more clearly than any words could ever do.
But thank you Doublenoughtspy because you just made me realize, twenty years after first seeing FYEO, the double meaning behind Roger Moore's "Goodbye Countess."

see kev, thats what i was trying to get at in my thread about a visit to tracy's grave, i think we need itOriginally posted by kevrichardson
This had crossed my mind recently . Brosnan' Bond unlike both Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton had films which brought up the "touch subject" of his wife Tracy De Vincenzo . Moore it mentioned in by Major Anya Anasova in "TSWLM" (1977) , also the subject in the pre-title in "FYEO" . For Dalton it as at the wedding of Felix Leiter and Della Churchill in "LTK" . In all three film the reaction of Bond to his dead wife was quite powerful . Inspiring each actor to reach emotional depth not associated with James Bond . Given Brosnan own personal history with loss , death of his wife Cassandra Harris from cancer . And his getting the role of Bond in 1986 , then losing it for reason beyond his control . Would a mention of "Tracy" work in Bond 21 . and how would he pull it off given his history . After four films her name is never once spoken.

What are you asking ? In am confussed . You should read the book and then watch the film . Since the film follows the book . The re-formula your question. In the book she (Tracy) was driving the car . In the film it was Bond who was driving . Tracy in the book was shot whiel the car was in motion . It crashed a Bond was awaken by a policemen to discover Tracy dead. In the film he pulled over to remove the wedding flowers.Originally posted by M_Balje
What do you think about that Bond is driving in an car with an girl and that an other car shoot from the backside to Bond and the lady.

Actually, in the early drafts of the TWINE screenplay, instead of giving Elektra a "don't go there" look when she asks that question, Bond replies, "I've had to give up people I loved."
A much more direct and clear reference to Tracy. But the Broccolis said that Bond, as a rule, does not talk about his personal life, so they deleted his response. At least, they kept Elektra's question.
For Bond 21, I think the references should be similarly oblique. There, but not there.

Bond does not talk about his personal life . well in both "TSWLM" and "LTK" Bond just reacts to a unpleasant question . It would have in the case of "TWINE" made him more human . In "TWINE" was suppose to "showcase Bond hunanity" . Hench is attraction to and protection of Elektra King . The Broccolis (Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli) . Are on a continuing trend to **** Bond up. It will be a shame to have Brosnan's Bond never mention his dead wife. If the character Draco was to re-appear . Would he still be Bond's father-in-Law or just a buddy like Felix Leiter. Fleming gave Bond such rich secondary characters that it stupid not too use them .Originally posted by iceberg
