Is it me, or does Bond always seem to hurt his shoulder in the books? 007 seems to be continously being injured in the shoulder, be it a mere punch or a knife gash. I have seen too many times "His shoulder screamed with pain" or something similar.
Perhaps some of you, like zencat, could shed some light on this constant pain.

I think it has to do with the realism of the Bond books. He gets just as beat up in the films, but in the books its hurts (as it would), and you don

Ok, but why always the shoulder?

Oh, I see. Ha. I have no idea. Maybe because it's the one place you can get injured without being put out of commission? If it were a leg or head or chest, the book would be over then and there.

Check out Benson's "JB Bedside Companion". There's an appendix in the back that list Bond's injuries sustained throughout the novels up to Icebreaker.
I believe the title is "He's a tough guy, but...."
Yeah, James has taken some serious abuse while saving the world.

I would expect he would. Thanks for the info lads.
I shall have to get a hold of a copy of JB Bedside Companion, it seems to be one of the best books about.
Can anyone remember any other injuries he has sustained, off the top of their head, in the books. The shoulder injury keeps springing up in my mind.

Having gone back and checked, James' shoulders have taken quite a bit of damage.
LALD - Hunk of flesh chomped by a barracuda.
DAF - Hit in shoulder by throwing knife during fight with Wint & Kidd.
TMWTGG - Bullet wound in shoulder.
Icebreaker - deep cut from knife during fight in Paula's apartment.
Carrying the "weight of the world" on them all the time, you'd think he'd be more careful;)
Hope this sheds some more light on it for you Tehuti 004.

I remember the one in Paula's appartment, and Bond seems to get hurt in the shoulder alot in Benson's books, he did in DAD.
But then Bond still hasn't got hid collar-bone attended to in the recent films.
